Infernal Affairs (2002)
Directed by Andrew Lau and Alan Mak
Starring Tony Leung and Andy Lau
In this Hong Kong thriller there’s an undercover cop who has infiltrated a Triad crime syndicate but the boss has planted a mole within the police force. A battle of wits follows to prevent their respective covers being blown.
A gripping thriller, the action is all in the editing, music and taut plotting.
Later remade as The Departed by Martin Scorsese
In honor of me catching up with season 2 of the tv show Westworld, I thought I’d take a look back on the movie that inspired it all. The tv show is phenomenal by the way, and I highly recommend it. I find it interesting that this movie doesn’t have great reviews. When I heard that the show was based on a movie, I always figured that the movie was good. This movie has really mixed reviews and some fans of the show hate the movie. I’m really interested to see how this movie turns out. I’m going into this movie with mixed expectations due to the reviews. I think I might end up liking this movie since I am a fan of westerns. So enough stalling, let’s see if Westworld is good or bad.
A robot malfunction creates havoc and terror for unsuspecting vacationers at a futuristic, adult-themed amusement park. After watching Westworld, I can see why so many people have a problem with it. This movie has such a fascinating concept, its a combination of a western and a science fiction movie, but there was no plot for any of the characters to work with. The first hour of this movie is the two main characters goofing off in Westworld while the engineers in Westworld talk about a malfunction. Then the last thirty minutes is an anti-climatic chase scene. I’ll admit there were some scenes in this movie that I liked. For the entire first half of this movie you wait for a plot to come around, and it doesn’t come around until the last act. Keep in mind this movie is an hour and thirty minutes long. The characters were alright. Peter Martin is a new tourist to Westworld who is getting hunted down by a rogue robot. Peter has some likability to him, but there wasn’t much of a character here. He barely has a backstory or a personality. John Blane is Peter’s friend who is more of the sly/ laid back type. I liked John more than Peter since he knew how to throw down and was more relaxed than Peter. The Gunslinger is a rogue robot who is hunting down Peter. Since this character was a robot he didn’t get a backstory or personality either, he’s just the antagonist to Peter. Since this movie is a western there were some cool fights. Continued in Comments.
#Deadpool2, a sequel to a bold and risky #Marvel#Deadpool is definitely not as bold and risky. It still was a lot of fun and I liked it a lot and I was laughing at most of the jokes but I felt like while making the first one the creators were going all in with it when here I noticed the typical Marvel moves in building a new franchise. Deadpool from the first movie was an outcast so he could let himself go all wild and never regret. Deadpool form the second movie is trying to blend in and what's worse make his own "F" word (didn't we have enough Fs in #GuardianoftheGalaxy and even #FastandFurious). So buckle up everyone for the X force movie series. Yay? Other than this preparation for the new money milking cow and therefore some smoothen angles the movie still was a blast just not as big as the first one. The movie is as full of references as #ReadyPlayerOne (though this time you actually will get most of them). Besides #RyanReynolds who was as always in this role great I really liked #ZazieBeets as #Domino and #JulianDennison as #Russel but wasn't much crazy about #Cable (by #JoshBrolin). Also, the best cameos ever and really fun post-credit scene, don't miss it! I rate it with 4/5 X swards #XMen#movie#movies#moviereview#moviereviews#film#filmreview#movielover#moviebuff#moviejudge#judgeyourself#watchyourself
DEADPOOL 2 SPOILERS AHEAD YOU BEEN WARNED
Unrelated, I love this wall plaque bc that’s also my anniversary 👀
I loved Domino and Colossus and Wade 😭😭😭😭 it was sadder than I was anticipating at times but they always made up for i. I fucking love how gay wade was for colossus. I loved that they used a skrillex song and that Deadpool loves dubstep. I loved the marvel and DC jokes. I’m Super Gay™ for this movie 👍🏻👍🏻

13 Reasons Why season 2 (2018)
Without the cassette tapes to provide a narrative spine, the unflinching look into teenage angst drama, "13 Reasons Why", second season rely on digging further into the aftermath of the previous season and also opens the door into others' perspectives. Following the ongoing trial each episode, the second season shows the testimonies of "Hannah Baker's" friends and peers, who give entirely new pieces of information about "Hannah's" personal life. In theory, this further the underlying conceit of season one, that there are always multiple sides to every story. The problem with this idea though, is that it completely complicates everything presented in the previous season, presenting relationships that weren't even hinted at or even completely changing the character's personality for the sake of keeping the narrative intriguing. The show does accomplish one thing and that's keeping things intriguingly as possible, so you can automatically click on the next 50 minutes long episode, with it's heighten and over exaggerated drama that's almost on the same level of soap operas. Take the fact that Katherine Langford's character of "Hannah" still appears as an regular through flashbacks and also haunting our main protagonist played by Dylan Minnette as a ghost. Little odd for a grounded show, huh? Her presence signifies his inability to move on, but it's handled in such a hokey way that it just doesn't work. Even though Minnette and Langford still have nice chemistry together, like most teenagers, this whole dynamic is way too self conscious. The conclusion, however, is a fantastically well done closure to Langford's character, and hopefully it stays like that. One considerable stand out in the acting department is Brandon Flynn as "Justin Foley", Flynn evoke his character's vulnerabilities without ever chewing scenery. His character development is the most powerful as well, as you see him rise above the substance abuse and become clean, but with a few minor struggles. * Continues in part 2 *
Movie Name : Fifty Shades Freed
“Completes undesirable and mediocre trilogy. It takes mere minutes to notice how bad and similar Fifty Shades Freed is in comparison to its prequel. It goes from idiotic plot to unsexy softcore erotica to thriller within seconds, literally. If you want to know how low filmmakers were when making this film just watch Anastasia/Grey Audi car chase scene. Easily the worst of 2018, already.” .
SharpRatings: 1 - #StayAway
Well, they reached the point where they were aiming for it. #FiftyShadesFreed is another nonsense erotic movie that goes nowhere and uses sex scenes are its basis. Something we already saw in its prequel #FiftyShadesDarker. The poor story follows right after previous movie Jack Hyde (#EricJohnson) who was teased to bring damnation to the kinky couple, the couple who just got married are facing their own marriage demons like honeymoon, trying to get their work mode on, staying truthful and trying to be save from the evil Jack Hyde, who mediocrely gets bail in the same movie he gets arrested for break-in and assault. I will start with challenges the writers gave its characters, these supposed challenges the protagonists must face are laughable. They are too minor to be on a feature film but could have worked excellently on a tv show. From the new woman flirting with Christian to non-exciting and unnecessary car chase, all these elements are poorly placed and edited together. There is no logic behind anything. The dialogues are cringe-worthy and passable. I don’t believe any of the actors performed quite well. While the other aspect of the film is the notorious reputation of the sex. It's the sex which is the selling point. It's the sex that has the groups of girls queuing up with their mates for their fun night out. But all in all, it's really quite tame. Not just tame it really doesn't go for it when in terms of a trilogy surely there is an escalation to make each film bigger than the last. An opportunity to make it the riskiest one yet is not capitalized on here. -CONTINUED IN COMMENTS
👹 #UndertheSkin (2013). You have to be in the right head space when you watch this movie. If you are someone who doesn’t have the patience for an art film, or if you need the narrative to be cut and dry, then go ahead and pass on this one....ok those who’ve stuck around are in for a really interesting watch. (This is going to be completely my personal take) Scarlett is an alien and she has been assigned to a mission. We first glimpse her as she is replacing her predecessor, a woman who has failed her mission. She has started to understand humans and to see them as more than just meat, and thus will be replaced. Scarlett first goes to a shopping mall to asses humans and to learn what will attract them. She snags some new closets and makeup then hits the streets of Scotland to hunt. She uses her beauty and sexuality to pick up single men and lure them back to a house where they walk into a black liquid and are consumed. This is going to get very long so I suggest you see it. But this is a agonizing study of human vanity and the importance we place on physical appearance and beauty. The film finds Scarlett learning about human pain and vulnerability in a beautiful scene where she lets one of the men go after. She learns that there is compassion and deep emotion in humans. That humans are much more Under their Skin. More than skin deep, you get it. Anyway it was pretty darn interesting so I declare it tasty! 3.5/5 Skillets 🍳🍳🍳.5
DEADPOOL 2 REVIEW 》》SPOILERS《《
First off, i was shook about the beginning because jUST LIKE INFINITY WAR, IT STARTED AWFULLY & SOMEONE DIED, BUT IN THIS CASE, I WASNT SO UPSET BECAUSE IT WAS VANESSA & HER CHARACTER WAS NEVER ONE OF MY FAVORITES??? Like, she's ok but i wasnt like "NO! SHE DIED" I just like her cause she makes Wade happy & she's pretty lol.
OK SECOND: I was EVEN MORE SHOOK about how the majority of X-Force died IMMEDIANTELY LIKE GOD.. ESPECIALLY BILL SKARSGARD LIKE WHYYY AND THEN HE TOOK PETER W WITH HIM BY THROWING UP ON HIM.. But im glad Domino survived at least because she was SO BADASS!
Ok third: Negasonic & her gf Yukio had me happy everytime i saw them & they both needed more screentime in my opinion.. but everytime they were shown it was GREAT.. & Colossus's interactions with Deadpool were priceless! I love how well they got along in this movie & how much more of a bond grew between them.
Ok and fourth: I LOVE HOW CABLE ENDED UP NOT BEING THE VILLAIN & IT WAS RUSSEL THE WHOLE TIME! I LOVED CABLE SO MUCH, YOU HAVE NO IDEA... & WHEN DEADPOOL CALLED HIM THANOS I LAUGHED SO HARD.. HE MADE SO MANY AVENGERS JOKES 😂
Idk why but i was so shocked to see Cable use the last of his time-traveling to go back and save Deadpool. It was such a great thing to do & it made me love him even more. I also loved how Wade loved Vanessa so much that he was willing to die just so he could see her again.. it was so upsetting yet sweet. Im just glad everything worked out in the end because he got to go back in time & fix everything, including saving Vanessa. Also he went & killed the DP from X-Men & Green Lantern haa~ EVERYTHING ABOUT THIS MOVIE WAS GREAT... IM SO READY FOR ALL THE FANART.. especially Cable & Deadpool...... im not ashamed to admit it, I somewhat ship it now 😂
Ok I have ONE complaint about the movie: I HATE HOW NONE OF IT MATTERED BECAUSE DP WENT BACK AND CHANGED LIKE EVERYTHING... SO UGH YEAH.. You can either take that canonly or as a joke for the end but either way, its starting to screw me over a bit because everyone was bonding & now it never happened 😫
Last movie from The Weekend and it’s a great way to end it. #bookclub which has a powerhouse of a cast, from @janefonda , @diane_keaton , @bergenbags , and @mary_steenburgen . I definitely need to give this one #twothumbsup. This movie was funny and wasn’t scared to talk about topics that society never hits on when it comes to older women dealing with sexually situations. Even though most people will think this movie is ment mostly for women who are more of the middle age this is something especially women of all ages will understand. From a great and funny script, a well thought out plot and just a great cast of actors , this was a fun movie to watch. I recommend this movie to anyone who wants a good laugh and watch a great cast come together and make a great movie. Plus it makes for a fun mother and daughter movie night as well. #moviepass#movietime#movietrailer#movieposter#movieworld#moviereview#movierecommendation#moviereviewer#movielover#movieposter#moviepopcorn#movietime🎬
I was thinking what I should say about this film that doesn't make me sound like a prude, or a stick in mud, jaded, and all around crab. But I always try to be honest when giving an opinion. I thought it was good, not so great, in the middle of writing my thoughts out I defiantly enjoyed it! I just don't think it's better than the first but more equal (kinda). It's tough to be a good sequel and in here I think certain things are better but overall the first had more charm. The jokes are hit n' miss, and most are rehashes from the first. I didn't laugh as consistently but laughed hard in spots. I can deal with raunchy comedy up to a point before I roll my eyes, or think that's not funny, it's just lame, and you're trying to hard to be edgy. THAT only happened ONCE in this film. Ryan Reynolds was still born to be Deadpool but I think Deadpool really works best when he's playing off a team aspect, at least in here that's the strength of the movie. Everything else in between all that I think is kinda weak. Let me tell you the plot of Deadpool saving a kid from the future killing machine known as Cable is some copy Terminator 2 shit. The only difference is I didn't give a damn about this kid! I was with him in the beginning but then as it went on he got on my nerves! Maybe it's the acting or the dialogue that was written for him but there's nothing really likeable about this kid. But I'll say this, in the second half there's a giant chase scene that's insane, certain things within it really caught me off guard! Some new characters stand out better than some returning, and with more Easter eggs and references for any nerd to catch is a wet dream! Not sure if that works for a causal viewer but it's enough for THIS nerd to give a Matinee! Check it out, let's talk about it! #deadpool#deadpool2#ryanreynolds#marvel#comics#comicbook#movie#film#amc#movietalk#doubletoasted#review#moviereview#critic#comedy#actionadventure#superheromovie#antihero#rottentomatoes#21centuryfox
