Old photo of my Dad riding a horse we called Mr. T on a back country Wyoming deer hunt! Mr. T left this world to soon due to a bad accident. But left behind everlasting memories, he was one of the good ones! I think my brother Zac @3barscustomleather pretty much lived on this bay horse! He rode him around hours on end with an imagination that he was Davey Crockett or something! 😂😂 Cheers to good horses and good memories! 🍻 •

Yesterday was the Wyoming draw for big game. My husband Chris and I simultaneously texted each other at 10:03am MST with our unsuccessful/SUCESSFUL draw results. We didn’t get our buck tags, but with 4 doe/fawn antelope tags between us we will be out in Wyoming in October to fill our freezers with some of the best (in my opinion) meat.
This photo was of my first big game harvest.. my fawn antelope in 2015. I didn’t actually start hunting until I was in my 40’s. In the summer of 2014 Chris (we were dating at the time) asked me if I’d want to go antelope hunting in the fall. I signed up for Hunter Safety in the Wisconsin DNR website, took my online course and on July 31, 2014 I attended my field day along with a classroom full of 12 year old boys. That October we were in Wyoming for antelope and in November spent our honeymoon on a backpack mule-deer hunt in eastern Montana. I didn’t harvest anything that first year, but did have a chance to on each trip.
Since then I have had my 1st dove, my 1st grouse, my 1st antelope, my 1st pheasant and my 1st mule deer. I also helped pack out Chris’s late season elk (in the snow, uphill of course). That’s a lot of 1st for somebody in their 40’s. Chris grew up in a hunting and fishing family and even jokes that his mom put his basinette in the bow of a boat before he had his first cast.
Even though I didn’t grow up in the sportsman/woman world, it seems like second nature to me.. kind of like everything I had done before prepared me for this. #publiclandowner#diyhunting#wyomingbound#antelopehunting#speedgoats#publiclandhunting#hunttoeat#meateater#womenwhohunt#widnr#huntersafetycourse#antelope#muledeerhunting#lobsteroftheprairie
