🔊: String Quartet in C Minor, Op. 18, No. 4 by Ludwig Van Beethoven @acapellaapp @60secondsofclassical
I'm still obsessed with this piece 💙 and only wish I had an opportunity to play the whole thing... but preferably the Violin II part. 😜
April 26, 2013 was the first ever performance of Curious Flights, a concert series passion project that I ran for two seasons in San Francisco before moving to the east coast. 🎻🎵
I was working full time as an arts publicist, doing a few gigs here and there, taking (and mostly tanking) some orchestra auditions...essentially, doing OK but by no means setting the world alight.
But once I started creating my own project and my own opportunities, the doors suddenly started opening... 🗝🚪
✅ Performed as soloist for the West Coast Premiere of Britten’s Movements for a Clarinet Concerto with full orchestra.
✅ Appeared in interviews and feature stories in Bay Area newspapers, blogs, radio, including a giant two page photo spread in the @sfchronicle.
✅ Featured and worked with top rate local artists such as @cahill_piano, Alasdair Neale, Brian Thorsett, among others.
✅ Was awarded a $10K Grant and raised over $5K through crowdsourcing to put on the West Coast Premiere of Marc Blitzstein’s Airborne Symphony.
✅ Requests for collaborations and gigs increased.
✅ Felt immensely more inspired, motivated, accomplished and HAPPY...! 😀😀😀😀😀
My point is, there is so much you CAN accomplish that IS within your control as opposed to simply waiting and hoping for your big break.
For me, it all started with that one modest, overlooked chamber concert playing among friends to a crowd of about 25 people in a small, off the beaten track venue.
💡So, what are the projects that you are working on or thinking about creating? I’d love to hear about your own opportunities that you’re creating!💡
I hope you’ve had a great week!
Grateful for street lights, they make me look more of an idiot when I fall over. At least when it’s pitch black only the bats know... 😂
Random post, I’m poorly and delirious.. ❤️
