These magnificent animals were photographed near the stunning town of Hermanus. Southern right whales migrate thousands of kilometres to give birth to their young just off the coast of South Africa. After a few months these whales make the long journey back to the Antarctic coast were they begin to feed again.
The Tawny Eagle is a shaggy, solitary bird that spends much of the time perching quietly as it waits for the perfect opportunity to strike. Tawny eagles are primarily scavengers, preferring the remains of antelopes, however they are more than capable of hunting when required. This particular Tawny Eagle had just come back to his perch with a fat chunk of impala in his grasp.
