Bulls fans, I know you may have seen this news and been instantly worried about Lavine and his future in Chicago but I'm here to tell you there's no need to worry.
Zach Lavine played a very small sample size of 24 games this year due to recovery time on his previous acl injury and a knee injury near the end of the season and he wasn't the most efficient player. Don't get me wrong, I understand completely that his inefficiency was due largely in part to him being out of rythym and basketball shape for so long but he was still inefficient nonetheless. However, he was our leading scorer and I've stated multiple times that there's no doubt in my mind he'll be an elite scorer next season if he's healthy. That's just the thing though, IF he's healthy. All this news means is that Zach Lavine will not be getting a max contract and the Bulls will be safe enough to pay him fairly. This is very smart and largely depends on his performance next season. The Bulls aren't going to lock into a long term deal but I'm sure they're still 100% behind Lavine.
News can be misleading and the Zach Lavine still has a bright future with the Bulls. He will more than likely be resigned this season and we will all forget about this claim when he's averaging over 20 points per game. Zach Lavine is fine for now Chicago, be excited. And remember, the most important thing is that we have the second most cap space this offseason while Zach Lavine is a restricted free agent so we can match whatever offer comes our way.
LaVar Ball on Lonzo Ball trade rumors:
"If they wanna trade him, trade him," Ball said in an interview with TMZ Sports. "It'll be the worst move they ever made. If they wanna trade him, trade him. If they don't wanna trade him, keep him. He's gonna do his thing. I'm not worried about no trades." (H/T Bleacher Report)
