Three years ago, I went in for a routine appointment at 36 weeks and after the nurse took my blood pressure for the 16th time, my doctor came in and informed me that I have indeed developed preeclampsia and it was time to have this baby 😳. I was a hot mess to put it mildly, because, this was not a conversation we have previously had. Sure my feet and hands were ginormous, I had the worst carpal tunnel, and I was pretty much swollen all over, but nobody mentioned having a baby that early. I ended up on bed rest, three days at the hospital, and then three days back home, before a scheduled time to return back to the hospital at 37 weeks. My husband took this photo right before we walked into the maternity ward🤰🏻where I would spend the next three days in lovely induced labor. Everything was kind of a blur from that point on, but just as the doctor told us “you’ll be walking out with a baby”, we most certainly did. My sweet sweet girl will be three tomorrow, and I don’t know how these last few years flew by so fast . But I do know, that this girl in the photo, who was so scared about what’s to come, had no idea just how much a tiny little human would change her life forever. 💗

carciofi alla romana on an event menu one final time for the season. It's root vegetables until spring. I love the cold, quiet months but really miss the freedom of cooking with fresh green things just pulled from the earth.

This is what I need right now. A little getaway up in the woods. 🍂
Holiday season is upon us which is the craziest time of the year for me. I am running on minimal sleep and going just a tad hysterical (@ expediting team can attest to this first hand 😂) however as busy as it is, it’s kind of my favorite time of the year because my favorite day of the entire year (Thanksgiving) is just around the corner and I’m soOoo excited to cook, break bread, and give thanks with my family.
