We can pray to God anywhere, but HE is especially present in the places set apart by the community for prayer: churches, chapels, mosques, temples and what-have-yous. Any building where congregations gather for prayer, that's what you call a house of prayer. And that's exactly what Bukit Rhema or known as Chicken Church is. It's also known as the house of prayer for all nations which include all religions. It provides even some quite private prayer rooms for anyone who wants to pray. Bukit Rhema stands on the hills of Menoreh and is surrounded by several mountains including Merapi! We got to see all that from the top but we couldn't come earlier to see the sunrise panorama from there. And to get up there, you need to go up this tiny spiral staircase (thank God I fit in there). If you've seen #AADC2, you'd recognise this place. What you see inside will also surprise you. And from its beak, you can see the Borobudur temple!
As of now, the construction of this religious tourist attraction in Magelang has only reached 70%. When we got there, we had to cross a bridge made of bamboo and hiked up the hill to get to the church. Swipe left to see the photos taken. We also had the chance to enjoy a cup of iced Magelang coffee and fried tapioca at the Kedai Rakyat W’Dank Bukit Rhema located on the back of the pigeon-shaped building. Yes, it's actually not a chicken. The crown makes it look like one. PS: I didn't really get to take many photos because I was so mesmerised by the architecture and the vibes that I get there. You know, you just want to sit back, relax, have nice conversations over coffee and enjoy the view.
