**I AM PART OF THE WAIVED ADOPTION FEE, EMPTY THE SHELTERS EVENT, COURTESY OF BISSEL PET FOUNDATION ON MAY 5th!! Complete your application for me TODAY!
Hi, Almost home Community! My name is Willow - a lovely 7 year old, spayed Shih Tzu/Terrier mix. I am looking for a special place to call home, and am hoping a patient family will come along and have a heart specifically for me :). I have been shuffled around so much in life, and no one knows my entire past 7 years history of life.
Unfortunately, my Furever home needs to be a home with no other animals or young children. You see, I display behaviors called "resource guarding". Simply put, if I am laying on the couch and someone reaches over or above to grab something near me, I react by looking to bite. It really is instinct/habit resulting from whatever happened to me in my previous life before coming to Almost Home. I also am not a dog who likes to be picked up, so I need someone who will love me just the way I am, and on my terms...it's the way I feel most safe to be loved.
Although I do enjoy being petted, there are times when I am just not "feelin' it", so it's best to get to know me first to guage when I do and do not feel ok being petted. It's not often, but there are times when it's not best to just blindly reach over and pet me. Make sure, I'm aware of it and am ok with it, first. No one likes to be startled! I understand this may be a lot to ask for, but someone has GOT to have a heart for saving a misunderstood girl like me. My life matters too!
I'm otherwise a great gal (and very, very cute as you can see). I am excited to greet my owner at the door and I sit for treats! Other things I really enjoy are going for walks and hanging outside when it's nice out. I am an adorable companion, who simply has a little sass in her pants! I promise it will never get boring with a little diva like me around in your home! Give me the opportunity to love and entertain you, and we will be BFFs Furever!! If you're interested in getting to know me please complete your application today on our website. (Link in bio)
#Flashbackfriday to the adoption story for this little guy!
Yesterday we featured Sheryl, one of our Pet Patrol volunteers (Go check out the post!).
After just her second shift at the sanctuary, Sheryl noticed an adorable tuxedo cat named Sylvester. This cat had previously been a stray and was very unsure about people. He also had several medical issues, but that didn’t seem to stop him from winning over Sheryl’s heart. The more she saw him at the sanctuary, the more she knew he belonged home with herself, her husband and their other two cats Ray (grey and white) and Charlie (orange.)
“We continued his medical care, regular vet visits, specific foods and gave him lots of love and now he is doing so well!” says Sheryl. “He has made himself very much at home, taking over his humans’ Lazy Boy chair and loving his two cat friends. He is an absolute joy.”
Sylvester now goes by the name of Roli and he spends his days happily playing with toys, watching the birds and squirrels outside, and snuggling in his cat bed. He also looks up to his feline big brothers. “He follows Ray *everywhere*!” jokes Sheryl.
We are thrilled to hear that Roli’s medical issues have been fully addressed and that he has blossomed into a very social and happy cat in Sheryl’s home ❤️. Thank you for adopting that little tuxedo man that pulled at your heartstrings!
