ON THE BLOG // We're excited to share our experience in #WaterlooOntario, its up on the blog right now! Click the link in our bio ⬆️
AND a quick turnaround and we're on the road again, this time in #BrucePeninsula, about 3 hours from Toronto. We've heard so many amazing things about the area, and after just a few hours here we can already see why! Head to our stories to see just how beautiful this place is and stay tuned for more!
#longpost 👉🏼 There's no one who judges you as a parent more severely than you do yourself. 😰 And the last few days have involved a lot self-directed mummy judgement over here 🙋🏼♀️ At first I was so gutted I didn't want to share, but while it's easy to share the highlights on Insta, life has shades of light and dark and I want to share that with you too. Because we're all human, and doing our best hey?
Last week Leo had a quick trip to hospital. On a busy reno site we were doing our best to keep him clear of tools + debris, but in a split second and rare post-nap moment without shoes on he ran out of my sight towards the van + stepped on a rusty nail. 😢
When I heard the yelp, coming from the RV instead of inside the 🏡 where I thought he was, my heart dropped. ·
Swipe right to see the events that followed and the 1cm deep puncture wound. Thankfully the Vancouver children's 🏥 was very close by and even though Eric was at the hardware store, @michellegits was there to help out and come with us to hospital. 💗
Because it was a minor wound (with limited risk of infection as Leo has had his tetanus vaccinations) the doctor cleaned it thoroughly without sedating him, and Leo was SUCH a brave little lion 🦁 ·
Seeing your child go through that much pain is incredibly difficult and the "what ifs" were firing constantly in my mind, but a few days of perspective has helped me see that these things can happen wherever you are! We are really thankful it was a minor injury and that it's healing so well now (though sole of foot injuries are MISSION to keep clean 😫)
We were planning on visiting @flippingmoons on Vancouver island but we also realised that keeping Leo safe so close to a worksite was too stressful and that Leo and I should head to Van Island a little early and leave Eric to finish the major bits of the 🚐 reno requiring the most tools!
Full time travel means being dependent on other people's kindness + accepting help in your most vulnerable moments. We're so thankful to our new Canadian friends @flippingmoons @michellegits + @sensiblenomads. We couldn't have done it without them! 💗💗 And if you're still reading, thanks for being here too 🙏🏻🤗
⚽Changing attitudes & creating Harmony⚽
One positive measurable impact of winning the #WorldCup besides putting people in a good mood is reducing suicide rates. During the #1998WorldCup in #France, suicide rates dropped by 10% during the tournament, with the largest drop among men aged 30 to 44. On the day after a France match, the rate fell by 20%. Somehow there is a link between #preventingsuicide and building links between people.
During the World Cup, people feel they have things in common with other people. Even if you feel like an outsider, you end up supporting the same team as others, and wanting the same thing as them. It is important to highlight the #socialimpact as well as the economic ( popularity of Macron included). Sure! it is easy to make 1k friends on #facebook but how many so called #friendsters of yours can actually be on the same page as you.
Living partially in France as a #nomadfamily, we have noticed that there is a division over French identity and problems of discrimination mostly towards youths of poor immigrant backgrounds.
Could this World Cup Win be hailed as a victory for a #multicultural France? Is it up to the politicians to change it or our attitudes towards each other? Let the #goodmood live for as long as possible so when I exchange a 'Bonjour' in the streets of Paris I may get a smile back.
#fifaworldcup2018#lesblues#lesblues🇫🇷🐓#togetherness we all are #winners. Congratulations #croatia2018 for being on the finals.
