Here’s a silly scene from #nysheepandwool 2017: @fibreperson, @djohnsonnyc and myself spinning at our spinning guild’s booth. Day 15 of #wemakeyarn, a question I have: the only question I can think of is, are there any good spinning podcasts out there? The only ones I know are Yarnspinners’ Tales and the defunct one by Sasha Torres... there must be more! Audio pods only, please.
Thank Ewe @vogueknitlive for an awesome weekend! This #international crowd of #knitters was full of infectious energy and passion for their craft. We loved having our very own JLNY booth right across from the boys @wallofyarn !!! It was invigorating to have so many friendly faces coming over with a laugh and a smile seeing our 💎🐑💎 #diamondsheep for the first time, as well as familiar faces from #nysheepandwool !!! We will #mostdefinitely be baaaack next year!!! #LoveEwe ❤️🐑 #knittersofinstagram
With a few more hours left in 2017, I wanted to say thank you again to all of you for your friendship. The love, warmth, and encouragement you have shown me this year have been immeasurable, and I am forever grateful for each and every one of you. ✨
2017 was both the hardest and the most fulfilling year of my life! I started my business (and released 7 collections of naturally dyed yarns), worked on multiple collaborations with other talented makers, I had designs accepted by a publication I really love and admire (definitely one of the highlights of this year), made friends with some amazing humans, and even got to meet a couple of them in person, attended #vklivenyc and #nysheepandwool with my dearest friend (although the word soulmate may be more appropriate in describing her), had my pattern featured on #fringeassociation twice, and ran my first ever marathon! For me 2017 was the year of doing instead of dreaming, and I am so happy I finally took the leap! ✨
On a more personal note, 2017 was the most intensely I have ever felt the changing seasons. Having Anya to explore with, I am finally seeing for the first time, even though I have been looking for all these years. I started the year with the intention of being more mindful and present, and even though I am far from achieving this goal to its fullest, it fills my heart to know I spend more time taking in my surroundings and really reveling in the beauty of the simple things in life. Thank you, 2017 (and Anya) for opening my eyes to the beauty of the world. ✨
And with that, I wish you all a more present and joyful year ahead. May you be surrounded with love always, and may you find the strength within yourselves to respond with love and kindness even to the most unkind events in life. Hope your homes are filled with light and laughter. See you in 2018, friends!
With Thanksgiving behind us, it’s officially time to start thinking holiday gifts🎁🎄Spending some time this weekend planning handmade presents with these gorgeous yarns from upstate! ✂️ #handmadeholiday#nysheepandwool
Rhinebeck 2017! While we were out east, it was looking like we would have to return home a lot earlier than expected, but Doug was able to find what felt like the ONLY remaining house rental anywhere close to the New York Sheep And Wool Festival, so we headed upstate! We had such a great time and I feel so happy to have experienced it. I was so thankful I had brought my Holiday Tee by @eritml knit with @thefarmersdaughterfibers along on the trip because it ended up making the perfect Rhinebeck sweater for this pretty hot year. I also wore my#farmhousecardigan by @savoryknitting on Sunday and my #verticesunite by @westknits (details of the yarn used months back in my feed) all weekend long. I think my favorite part of the whole weekend was seeing so many familiar faces and meeting and talking to @michele_nyc @sandyran @thefatsqrrl @legacyfiberartz @knit1chgo @allysondykhuizen @jgoerold @saltairarts and a couple kind others. Since we were headed home right after the festival and had been on the road for almost a month, I had just enough luggage space for a sweater's quantity of @peace_fleece and some amazing machine knitting wool. What a great weekend! 🐑🐑🐑
