In light of the NFL’s current policy change, no more kneeling during the Anthem, do we now have a moral obligation to refrain from watching games this season? If enough fans boycotted by not watching, attending, and or purchasing, would it lead owners of teams to reconsider? What real power do players have? AND why aren't they banning together and standing against the league? Do they feel powerless to thwart a system that is a part of a larger system which, in turn leaves them feeling impotent and disenfranchised? All this money, reverence, fame and yet they cannot kneel, grown men cannot exercise their right to protest injustice? Peaceful protest, taking a knee, no violence, profanity, or any other vulgarity. The powers that be have declared these men are not allowed to kneel. Similar power structures have dictated where people can sit, enter buildings, drink water, sit in restaurants, go to school, swim in pools, play in parks. When the seemingly small rights are taken away, that is when the widespread control is won. Ok so they can’t kneel, who cares? I mean it isn’t like they are taking away important things like their right to vote, etc. So the oppression persists right in front of us and we do nothing and excuse it away because it isn’t what most would consider a major human rights violation. I ask again, what do we do in response to this decision? When you know better you can do better. Dont we have an obligation to stand up, or kneel, against an injustice or is there no social responsibility anymore? #nflcollusion#collinkaepernick#oppression#takeakneeforjustice#takeakneetakeastand#injustice#latinamanzana#sad#disheartened#whattodo#actnow
🔥 🔥 🔥 I hope all the players not standing for the National Anthem keep kneeling, pay their fine, and then match the fine with a donation to ANY agency that needs money to fight the reasons they are kneeling. As is, NFL profits insanely off the players, results in long term injuries and brain damage to them, and is just such a ridiculously over-glorified sport... I would love to see the NFL just keep flailing, and the players (and crazily oppressed cheerleaders) have some autonomy. Yea, yea, they all have a choice to be involved with the NFL, but, for an agency that allows domestic violence perpetrators to stay active, but shuns their political activists... just a bummer. #freespeech#action#blackinamerica#demagoguery#overit#yourownpersonaljesus#nfl#oppression#changeisneeded
Tomorrow there is a referendum in the Republic of Ireland on abortion rights. *
Solidarity with all of those fighting for a yes vote to repeal the 8th amendment (which currently means abortion is banned in almost all cases). *
Link in bio to an article about the referendum by a Socialist Party and ROSA (Reproductive rights, against Oppression, Sexism & Austerity) activist.
