Note to self: don't try to walk around the entire city during the hottest hours of the day 🔥 Even with it being an oven out there, we had a great day wandering the streets, drinking milkshakes and miniature-dog-watching 👀 #itswhatwedohere
We had one goal for the Bugaboos, the Beckey-Chouinard on South Howser. The climb covers 2000 ft of climbing in 15 pitches. We chose the 5.10+ option.
We started from the van with our backpacks overflowing - climbing, camping, and mountaineering gear, plus food for 7 days. I am 5’2”, carrying a pack that heavy is rough.
We made it to the Kain hut in a few hours and after gathering information on the condition of the col we opted to take the long, but safer way up the Bugaboo glacier. We ditched half of our belongings, taking only what was necessary for two nights, and navigated our way over crevasses and steep snow fields until we arrived at our base camp. As the sun set we settled in for a sleepless night.

There are a few places that resonate with me on a visceral level. Places that feel like home. That fulfill me in ways that I’ve never known. They fill me up with every bit of who I am. This is one of them. This is home.
