Crown heights today, in the pre-blizzard frost. I meet with Marisha, one of the finest photo artists I know, in #brooklynartisanbakehouse over the a Devine lunch. (My first real croissant- french people, why, oh why are you so gourmet and so fashionable? 😭) I shop Mimu Maxi. My crown heights buddies are all hip, cool, and not afraid to be super talented and super Jewish, both at the same time. But @mimihecht and her silent but powerful sidekick Mushky, take the cake. These two are businesswomen who have built a brand from the ground up, uniting fans in thier singular, severe obsession for the brand. Even me right now, am being a brand ambassador for them, without them ever knowing about this. They accomplished that by sharing openly, freely, vulnerably and with great strength, what it's like to be a woman in business, in family, in commitment to never give up on upward mobility in every area of a woman's soul. They did that by being out there, being awesome, and being unabashed about who they are. And women of all walks are lining up behind them. I was thinking as I walked into that room abuzz with women, we all have something in common, a love for #mimumaxi and thier message. As I tried on their items, each of which fit me so well (and you flatter me when size small fits, okay?😎) I understood what it's like to be real about women's bodies. We are beautiful, we are real, and half of our body is not shaved off in Photoshop, or girdled in with breathe stealing ropes and metal bones. We are perfect, imperfections and all.
