New colourblock knit picked up in the @mintvelvet sale ❤
Almost didn't post this because there's a shadow in the pic. A SHADOW! No shadows allowed on Insta 🙃...unless they are arty ones obvs...but, then I realised 1) ir's only a shadow (we'd crap ourselves if we didn't have them 😱) and b) it"s only Instagram. A tiny corner of t'interweb. And an even tinier corner of the world. So....yeah. New jumper 😎
No new home pics to show you today so today's post is about this quote from the book #notesonanervousplanet by @mattzhaig
Something I see alot of on instagram and I've also been guilty of in the past is worrying about.....Are my photos/house good enough. Am I interesting enough. Follower numbers. Not getting enough ❤ on posts. Feeling like I shouldn't post what I like incase my followers don't like it. Etc.etc. It just goes on and on. I know there are lots of you out there sho have or do feel the same.
I bought this book after seeing Adam's stories and posts about it at @thepocketnest I got it the same day and couldn't put it down until I'd finished reading it. I found it really thought provoking. There is so much in it that I can relate to, mainly my use of social media and the internet. I suffer with anxiety at the best of times and I wasn't sleeping well at all. I was guilty of late night scrolling and checking my social media 1st thing in the morning and worrying about all the stuff I listed above. Since reading this book I've removed all of my social media apps from my phone so I'm not tempted by any of it when I'm in bed or out and about having fun with my family. They're all on my iPad which I no longer take into the bedroom. An almost immediate result for me was that I felt less anxious at night and I started sleeping better. I took a short break from this account to enjoy life and to decide if I wanted to come back to it and how I would use it. I missed the social side of it so I came back but I view it in a totally different way now. I have this account for me. I'm not doing it for anyone else. And. I'll post what I want when I want. I'm not having a dig at anyone I just think it's important to remember that instagram is not the be all and end all, the numbers don't matter and in the grand scheme of things instagram really isn't important at all (unless you run a business through it). As for the quote....I'd rather be me than bland🤪 Have a lovely day and thanks for reading my longest post ever🙄😘 #dontbebland#justbeyou#begenuine#postwhatyoulike#letyourpersonalityshine#quoteoftheday#likesdontmatter#bemoreyou#dowhatyoulove#lifestooshort
Nothing fancy, just a little reminder to always be your most authentic self, whatever that means to you. Knowledge + life lessons > getting the new iPhone or flexing on insta. You are who you say you are, not how others make you feel.
