Today is prematurity awareness day and while I want to continue to support this cause I also want to bring attention to the fact that without the advancements made in prenatal care and studies done for twins mamas suffering from TTTS and sIUGR that my babies never would have been premature... They would not have made it to viability. When my babies were created it was already decided they wouldn't be full term babies, but because of the amazing care we received they managed to hold on until the NICU could take over what my body couldn't finish.
Happy World Preemie Day! We were so lucky to have such a healthy baby considering he was born so early! To all the parents who have experienced the NICU knows how challenging it can be at times, but so worth it❤ Love you Baby
Every year on this day, I am reminded of how far I’ve come, and of my strength, my family and friends who have always supported me, and how thankful and lucky I am to be on this earth to change it for the better.
I was 1lb 7oz, born at 23 weeks, and was in the NICU for over 100 days. Now I am 25 and thriving. But I know I am rare, and many preemies aren’t as fortunate. Today, World Prematurity Day, is a day of love and solidarity for those preemie babies who became angels and their parents. My heart is with you 💜
Additionally, it is a day to celebrate the successes of preemies like me, as well as medical technological advances, and every doctor, nurse, and hospital staff member caring for premature babies. You all are amazing.
Wereld Prematurendag 2018

Today is #worldprematurityday and every year I grow prouder of my tiny little miracle and the incredible journey we’ve been on. We all fought so hard to make it through that first year but she blew us all away and continues to do so every day. My fighter, my superstar, my inspiration 💖 we are forever in debt to the amazing staff at the Royal Stoke Hospital and our fantastic NHS💜 #27weeker#micropreemie#preemiepower#nhs
To the NICU Mamas just trying to keep it together, we see you....To the proud Papas who can't wait to hold their tiny wonders, we see you...To the NICU workers who give it their all every single day, we see you....To the little miracles who couldn't wait to join us earthside, we see you. We support you. We celebrate you. Today and every day. 📸 via @beingthismama.
Happy World Prematurity Day! This summer, I had the chance to volunteer my time with the #smallandmightyproject to photograph babies in the NICU. It felt wonderful being able to provide these families with photos from this time in their life when things did not go as expected. All of the babies were so precious, and such fighters! Did you know that over 8% of babies born in Alberta are preterm? I had no idea. If you feel like getting involved and supporting this great cause, check out @smallandmightyproject
These two came into the world via emergency c-section at 32+1 weeks weighing just 3lbs 11oz and 2lbs 11oz.
On this day we give thanks to the perinatal and NICU staff who made these smiles possible. #worldprematurityday
It’s World Preemie Day! I didn’t have preemie babies, but I know moms who have, and I want to honour them by acknowledging their strength, resilience and courage. As a #Huggies_Ambassador I know the best way I can support preemie parents is to give my time, so they can be with their preemie babies and give them all the hugs they need. Whether that’s entertaining their older children or doing the dishes during a home visit, that’s how I support preemie moms. It’s that simple, anyone can do it!
Quality time is invaluable with a preemie baby. Skin-to-skin and hugs benefit preemie babies by shortening their hospital stay, helping them gain weight faster, stabilizing their oxygen level, reducing pain, and the Huggies No Baby Unhugged program helps to ensure preemie babies are getting the hugs they need when mom and dad can’t be there.
