I often am asked if the farm has slowed down. Truth?
We are busy busy busy.
I know I’ve posted photos of the big build. We are still harvesting and donating to our community, we are sorting seeds, going through our dried saved seeds, scouring (and dreaming of planting EVERYTHING!) at seed catalogues for new or improved varieties, meetings. We actually meet on a weekly basis to talk “business”. Oh and how can I forget!! We also have 4 acres of land that is being prepared for winter as well as perennial plants that need cut back, mulched, weeder etc!! AND the animals! We are preparing for calving season and making sure they have plenty of food for winter and that there water doesn’t freeze!! #firstfruitshomestead#fallseason#farmersdonthaveoffseasons#knowledge#prepwork
Is this how your turkey prep for Thanksgiving is looking as well. from what we have sold for before, on, and after Thanksgiving we have about 150 turkeys going out. and I will still eat one every year. marinated for 24hrs drive the flavor all the way down to the bone. some will be smoked the rest Broasted/pressure fried. 13# turkey from fresh raw to fully cooked in 40mins. best turkey u have ever eaten. the smoked are also to die for. #thanksgiving#turkeyday#prepwork#properstartsforproperfinishes
Second day of Thanksgiving prep underway! Just finished my citrus, garlic, and herb #compoundbutter for the Cornish hens. Softened @kerrygoldusa butter, chopped parsley, thyme, sage, rosemary, and garlic. Orange and lemon zest, then finish with @murrayriversalt sea salt and fresh, cracked black pepper. Roll it up in plastic wrap and that’s it! 👍🏽 #prepwork#freshherbs#thanksgiving2017#chseats#sofritoproject
