If your goal is to become a professional artist, and you think you have the necessary talent. You are gonna have to put in a ton of work and dedication. Raw talent is just simply not enough. You will have to spend every spare moment you have towards this ridiculously hard to achieve goal. It’s really, really hard! Out of the 2 million art graduates in the nation, only 200,000, or 10 percent, earn their living primarily as artists. And only 2 percent, make it to the absolute top.
But here’s the good news. We a currently living thru the greatest time ever in the history of human kind to build and promote your brand. The internet has completely eliminated the middleman, you no longer need to convince a gallery owner to invest in your vision. You are now completely in control of your career, you are the architect, the decision maker, the executor.
The question is, are you willing to put in the work?
I know I am!
This is a hard one to practice, but important to remember. I know that I wake up every morning with a list of things I have to complete that day, but the list is unrealistic and I beat myself up mentally by the end of the day for “failing”. Be realistic. Be gentle. If you need to, forgive yourself, but remember that tomorrow can be different. Move on. You are doing the best you can and that’s amazing. 💓
