“Quiet minds cannot be perplexed or frightened but go on in fortune or misfortune at their own private pace, like a clock during a thunderstorm.” - Robert Louis Stevenson, The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde
When people associate being quiet with being boring feelings of indignant bestow upon me. If my lack of speech makes you uncomfortable, then I think you’re the boring one. I don’t waste words like many others, I only speak when I feel I have something of value to share.
If you’re someone that feels said way about those whom don’t feel the need to constantly be talking, could you explain to me why? I’m just curious.
"Minimalism as a movement is taking off worldwide, yet it still remains countercultural, going against the consumerism and materialism that is pervasive all around us. In a society that consistently paints more and more accumulation as the basis for happiness, owning less requires intentionality, courage and perseverance."
Only a couple chapters into this book and I'm already feeling inspired to reevaluate all the stuff I own. I'm the kind of person who has trouble parting with things like ticket stubs and old maps, so this book feels like it was written for me. @waterbrookmultnomah #partner

📝 Author you'd ask to write your life: come autrice italiana, @troisi_licia assolutamente. Rappresenta troppe cose per me. Come autrice straniera... Penso proprio Elizabeth Jane Howard, per la storia che ha, e il modo in cui riesce a raccontare e scandagliare l'animo umano. •
• 📚 How do you organize your bookshelf: ho sempre troppo poco spazio!
E come riuscite a organizzare la vostra libreria? 😉 sono curiosa 😍😍😍
My book shelves are full of these “Level 1” readers. With my first 2 children who were sight readers, and learned new words easily, these were great. However, my youngest child is the type of child who needs a slow and steady phonics program, and these books suck for that. I have realized that every single one of these books is full of different words, there is no standard set they work from. There are also many words that just don’t work right from a phonics perspective, especially for a child still learning all the rules. I feel frustrated at these books now- they taunt me with that number 1 that implies simplicity where there actually isn’t any. No wonder children with dyslexia usually learn to hate reading. I am so glad I can homeschool my kid so she doesn’t actually have to deal with the fact that so many books labeled “easy” really aren’t. #homeschooling#secularhomeschool#books#reading#dyslexiaawareness
Maybe one day I'll upload regularly... 🙃
Currently a little obsessed with light. Inspired by 'The Child that Books Built' by Francis Spufford - I too often find myself 'curled in a chair like a prawn' after losing myself in a book.
