I remember using my first baitcaster ever when I was a teenager (circa 2000s). My father had a PENN 5 conventional reel, and I HATED IT. Cast after cast, I would get a bird's nest. Sometimes because my cast was horrible. Other times because I forgot to break with my finger, upon water impact. The reel was super heavy as well -- hard to manage. Bottomline is -- I did not enjoy using it. Forward to 2018, I just got my new Baitcasting reel: the @kastkingusa Speed Demon PRO reel! This stuff is ONLY 6.5 oz.! Super light! Got a whole carbon body, with stainless steel ball bearings. And the best part? It is a 9.3:1 gear ratio reel (yes, folks -- 9.3:1) with a trilateral magnetic brake system, which virtually eliminates overruns and backlashes when adjusted right. I just tried my setup with 1/4 oz, 1/2 oz, and 1 oz weights. Even with no finger break, No backlash! Castability and smoothness 100% too. Damn. Technology, folks!!! Anyways...I definitely recommend this one, and you folks know it already -- there will be a review on it coming on the YouTube Channel soon. Either frogging in heavy cover or chatterbaiting while grinding and covering tons of water! Stay tuned!
