Today was one of those days you do it for. I felt strong, happy, and bright. I’ve been around the block to know days like this don’t happen every time, but when they do, you should not just enjoy them but celebrate the shit out of them. ✨🙌🏻💕
@tsickmeyer former pro basketball player now CEO of Fidelitas Development, a digital marketing agency.
I’d sneak into the gym on off days to get shots up. I knew that I wasn’t gifted enough to coast through a season- I had to outwork everyone and earn everything I received. Business certainly is no different. We’ll never truly be the brightest person in our industry- there’s always someone better. But we can be the hardest working. For me in my role as CEO, that means taking care of work instead of mentally checking out into a movie on flights and listening to podcasts and audiobooks while walking my dog and son in order to stay sharp on the latest trends.
Thank you Tyler for showing us the same principles that helped you succeed in sport are also the same principles that facilitate your success in business.
I wish I could say that the day after the photo on the left was taken I made a change and that photo is me at my heaviest but thats not how my story goes. 📖
It took SO much more time before I had fully committed. I had this fake happy thing going on so in the picture on the left I was “happy” and “enjoying life” but that faded fast. After I graduated college (shortly after that pic) it was a kind of down hill slide. I would start exercising but thought I was “happier” when I was straight up indulging and “enjoying” myself because for so long I had believed that my happiness was real. But it was just an endless cycle because the more I did that, the more unhappy I really was. •
The people around me could bring me happiness but I was never truly happy with my self. I didn’t like the photo on the left or any of the other ones I took that day, but as you know, I recently went through my clothes and this dress reared it’s ugly head again but I tried it on and this happened! I couldn’t believe the difference! 👗
But the point is don’t wait to make yourself truly happy. It is important to figure out wether or not your happiness is real or if you are stuck in some crazy “happiness.” Do it for you. I promise it is worth it!
3 things that make me truly happy⬇️
- Reading a book with candles lit
- Feeling accomplished after working out days in a row
- The pure joy in laughter
I want to know- what is something that makes you happy? 😊
Getting old sucks..... I remember my golden years of playing the sport I love.
Volleyball was my LIFE.
However God had a different plan.
He gave me two knees that at the age of 16 my doctor told me they looked worse than an 80 year old 😬😭 He told me to stop playing at 16. #crusheddreams
BUT.... if you know me... I really don’t take no or ‘it’s not possible’ as an option. 🤷♀️ So I continued to play through high school & one year of college- until I had a season ending ankle injury (not sure which one I’d rather have ankle or knee... 😩) Fast forward I met the love of my life because I moved back to Cedar Falls.
Fast forward I still didn’t listen & continue to play rec Vball to this day.
But I listen to my body first. When it was close to 200lbs- it would take me DAYS to recover from an hour of indoor ball.
Today- being 180 lbs I still have to be mindful. I don’t always think it’s a good idea for me to play on a hard surface (that’s where I LOVE sand ball!) But here’s the thing- I can still workout at home to lose weight, build muscle, lose inches, strengthen my legs.
It’s the thing that fuels me NOW.
I loved the game of volleyball.
But I also loved being strong at it 💪
Today I may not be as strong of a player- but I’m smarter 🤗
And I find my STRONG in my at home-workouts.
Cheers to you retired high school or collegiate athlete.
Life is thrown at us after we stop playing & we may faulter & lose ourselves.
But I’ve found something that gets results & brings your team back! I’m so excited whats in store for Team Fit & Fearless & The Confidence Project.
Everyone needs encouragement.
Everyone needs a tribe of supporters.
And everyone needs confidence to achieve their goals & dreams.
So what are you waiting for? I’m taking applications now!
I would love to join you but... I don’t have time.
I don’t think I could do it.
I don’t have money. ^^^^^^ Common things I hear all the time.
Let’s take a second to think about this... You buy groceries?
You buy hair products?
You buy coffee?
You scroll on social media.
You binge watch tv.
When you first start a job, you don’t know exactly what to do. So you get training.
That’s just like what I do as a coach and my monthly accountability groups.
Getting healthy & finding self love. That’s too expensive? You don’t have time for it?
Girl — you need this community! I guarantee you, it will change your life & you won’t look back 🙌🏼 Next time you say “I don’t have money” re think those concert tickets or coffee runs.
Next time you say “I don’t have time” think about how many episodes your binge watch watching.
Next time you say “I don’t know what to do” think about how this could make a positive change in yours, your friends, your families live if you just take a chance.
This Monday night I wrote a blogpost about the “What if” question. ✨What if you start today?✨ What if you decide to take action today and change your life? ✨ .
Head to the blog (link in bio) to read up all the questions you should be asking yourself to finally take action in your dream 👉🏽 Go. Do. It. Now. .
When will you start? 💋#ahintoflife
What do you do when you finally stop playing sports and don’t have your team anymore? What do you do when you just don’t know what to do anymore?
I played sports my entire life. Seriously I did tumbling and played softball since I was 2 😳 Then all the sudden that was all gone and just the trophies were left. I struggled to make friends after sports and really struggled to keep the weight off. I mean struggled, bad.
Six months ago, I decided to become a fitness coach and it was the scariest decision of my life. But it also has become one of the best decisions of my life (other than dumping my shit ex boyfriend😂) I have gained so much confidence through this opportunity. And the TEAM I now have. Wow, I could talk about them all day. They push me everyday to become the best version of myself. I couldn’t have done any of this without them. But I also couldn’t have done it without the support of you guys. You guys rock and I’m so thankful 😭💓😭💓
I’m in better shape now than I was as a COLLEGE ATHLETE!😮you can’t ever SEE how far you’ll go so you just have to BELIEVE it’s possible and show up everyday until you get there!❤️ I told myself forever that I’d NEVER have abs, it just wasn’t my body type, it wasn’t possible, I couldn’t lose that extra tummy fat, etc.
Once I let go of that story and just focused on showing up everyday to workout and eat clean I started to see my body change in ways I never had before!👏🏼 What “lies/stories” do you tell yourself?!👇🏼
#tbt to racing in Boston and just absolute pleasure it was to steer the Charles course. Also all the fun memories of carrying our oars through Boston metro, AirBnB shinanagins, and eating our lunch on the foot of Harvards boathouse. One day I'll be back.
Why do you lift? 💪
Today in the middle of my workout I was asked by my trainer...”why lift?” .
Well, there are so many reasons but here are a few:
1. For that strong 💪 feeling... ya know that feeling here where my little muscles are popping!!! 2. For my shaking arms that are barely able to hold up my body but they are!☺️
3. For my bones! Yep! My mom was diagnosed at a super young age with osteoporosis and I will NOT fall into that statistic if I can control it!
4. So I can eat more! Yep 👍 duh! I love me some food! And guess what when I lift weights my metabolism speeds up and I can fuel my body with more!! 🙌🙌
5. So I have energy to make it through the day!! .
Why do you lift??? .
