Who dat? 🤔
Yup, rewind back to March of 2017 (2 months before my marathon that year)...cold AF but braved the conditions by covering every inch of my body (except for my eyes of course lol). .
I didn’t have a treadmill so my only option was to train outdoors (and let me tell you, there were days when the snow went up to my ankles and my eyelashes froze seconds after leaving my house 😆).
But that’s what commitment looks like. You get out there and get the job done not because you have to, but in my case it was because I wanted to. And for me, training is not “work” or something I think as effort. I crave and love it - it also keeps my hormones balanced lol.
As a rower I remember braving crazy winds out on the water (as safely as possible of course with my coach out there). .
Are we crazy? I don’t think so. We are just driven and passionate people who are grateful for the opportunity to do what we ❤️.
I’ve been SO fortunate to help so many runners through the beginning of this Fall season, with a few more scheduled to race this weekend 🙌. And am now excited to take on the new runners ready to tackle the winter season 👊. It’s gonna be a great journey! Squeezed in my lunch run today. It was 42 degrees and super windy. I did 6x4 minutes at 10k pace but I went by effort because the wind was defeating. 👎🏻 was pleasantly surprised to see they were all under seven minute pace once I was done ✅ When do you go by effort and not by pace? My training has largely been effort based and coming back from injury I highly recommend that because you don’t know where you are at. Also I love the @koalaclip #shokzsquad#marathontraining#seacoasthalf#runCIM#runningcommunity
Tonight's run was eventful. It's was another dark one as the earliest I could get out was 8.45!
About a half mile in, I managed to turn my ankle and fall over into a wall. Ended up in a heap on the pavement, luckily no injuries apart from my pride. After that I really strugglad to find any rhythm and had a stitch most of the time.
Decided to cut my losses and settle for 2.5 miles but knowing there is a lot more in the legs and that I can keep at the pace.
Rest day again tomorrow and then gym Saturday morning before work!
Picture is Bournemouth seafront from Sunday!
💥Smith machine stiff leg deadlifts💥 By far my most favorite leg day finisher.
Nothing feels better then those earthquaking leg shakes while pushing out those last reps.
Side note: this is by far the most shredded I’ve ever seen my legs and I couldn’t be more proud of the progress 😁
Give this exercise a try on your next leg day!
Happy Thursday! I am feeling optimistic because my legs are starting to feel a little bit more like normal. Since the deep muscle soreness from Sunday is finally starting to disappear, I was able to get in a decent amount of miles today. (11.25 miles) I did these miles in two different runs. The first of which was done before work on the treadmill. (Pic 2). Thankfully I had a few YouTube videos from some people I subscribe to that I hadn't watched yet which gave me something nice to keep my mind off the grind.
The second run was after work out in Woodlake with Colleen. We enjoyed the gorgeous Fall weather as we knocked out a 5K together before we had to pick the kids up. It feels like we have not had as many opportunities to get a run in together, but it is always nice when they do happen.
Even with this 11.25 mile day, I am still super short on miles this week. That is an OK thing since I am setting my sights on a day to get in a super long run. Still finalizing the thoughts on what I will be doing for it... dunno🤷🏻♂️
“Your wings already exist. All you have to do is fly.” And what good are those wings if you have no courage to fly. Fear is the number one reason why people are afraid to accomplish something. Fear of rejection, solitude, failure. Well I say screw fear, screw being afraid. Take a chance, go out, work hard, reach for the stars and kick all those fears in the A**. You got this and don’t let anyone else tell you otherwise. #marathontraining#tcsnycmarathontraining#runnersofinstagram
