Accountability to self: I ran a total of 16 miles last week. It was supposed to be 22 but I skipped my run on Saturday. I told myself I’d make up for it on Sunday but didn’t. C’est la vie 🤷🏽♀️. Today I’m re-committing to strength training. I was off and on with it all summer but now that my boys are all back in school I definitely have no excuses. I’m coming for you gains 💪🏽. On another note, my left ankle is starting to worry me. There’s pain and I don’t like it. I hope it’s not my new shoes but maybe it’s because my mileage has been increasing. We’ll see 🤞🏽. Meanwhile, I have to remember to ice it 😬. I also have to get back to rolling and stretching because I’ve neglected it since marathon training in the beginning of the year. I was hoping to break my PR for the 10k (currently 58:06/9:22 pace) I’ll be running in September but I’ve ran slower this summer than last and my sporadic “speed work” has only been on the treadmill so that’s not looking like a possibility. I’m not going to stress about it. Nor am I going to stress about my 1,000 miles in 2018 goal at the moment. I accomplished it last year but this year is proving much more difficult. I currently am overwhelmed and stressed (my left eye has been twitching off and on for the past 3 weeks 😒) with lots of heavy personal stuffs going on around me and I just can’t right now. I can’t. Running, for me, helps me de stress and I refuse to resent it, so I will run by feel for now. Or at least until I stop feeling like I’m being pulled in 10 million directions. The upside, even with my emotions running high, I am thankfully not binge eating. Four years ago, I would’ve eaten my feelings away only to feel worse after. Granted, I may not be eating healthy all day everyday (you complete ❤️ me my precious chips) but I’m not over eating and that’s a little win for this girl. I’m trying to clean it up this week though. I may not be gaining weight on the scale but my clothes feel snug and that’s no bueno. The “you are what you eat” absolutely is the truth. The end. Note: I may change my mind tomorrow about all of this but for now this is how I’m feeling so let’s go with it. ❤️✌
Have you heard of grounding (or earthing)? It’s when you place your bare feet on the grass, dirt or sand to connect with the earth. Basically, when you're grounded free electrons from the Earth 🌏 are transferred into your body, and these free electrons act as strong antioxidants. Since electrons are negatively charged and free radicals are positively charged, the electrons will neutralize free radicals in your body.
✔️ Improve Sleep
✔️ Reduce Inflammation
✔️ Balance your Autonomic Nervous System
✔️ Reduce Cortisol
✔️ Raise HRV (heart rate variability)
Salt water 🌊 is a great conductor, making it the perfect place to walk barefoot. Grass works well too. Although studies suggest 30 minutes a day to reap the health benefits I’ve always felt better even just kicking my shoes off for 5-10 minutes. Sometimes I just go barefoot for a few minutes while walking the dogs...I used to get some weird looks when I lived in Boston but going barefoot 👣 seems more socially acceptable here in CA 😉
How much do you love running outside on a beautiful day?? 😃🏃 WE LOVE IT
Our brand new @vaporfresh Laundry Detergent Pods helps you enjoy your outdoor workouts in two special ways
First! ☝ Even though our laundry detergent pods are perfect for all your laundry, they are specifically designed to wash your workout gear. Strong enough to eliminate that sweat and odor without needing to cover them up with cheap fragrances and brighteners. Did you know most activewear suggests avoiding fragrances and dyes? That's why we're free of them. Your gym clothes will be fresh, clean, soft and ready to go
Second! ✌ Our pods are the most ecofriendly laundry detergent pods you'll find. We want to help preserve our amazing environment so you can continue to enjoy your outdoor runs and hikes! How? They utilize an advanced cold water enzyme blend that allows you to wash your clothes in cold water but clean like you're using warm or hot. By switching from warm/hot to cold, you reduce your energy consumption by up to 90% and save about $0.60 in energy costs each and every load!! 😮😆 Extra bonus: gym clothes recommend cold water washes but not all laundry detergents can keep up.
