Never put an age limit on your dreams! 💫🏃🏼♀️💫
When I first started running marathons(2004), going sub 3 hours wasn’t even a thought. It was so far from what I ever thought I was capable of running. Only elite, fast people could run under 6:52 for 26.2! It literally seemed impossible! My mind set was that I was only good at the 5k to half marathon and marathons were “just for fun”. My first Chicago in 2004 I ran 3:25:27, I didn’t really train, I just ran a long run every other weekend. I did that kind of training for a good 5 years. I was slowly getting faster, but never really planned it, it just happened. There’s much more to this story that I’ll share over time but things did change!! Most of the change was in my head and believing it was possible. The older I got the faster I was getting, because I believed it was possible. With Chicago right around the corner, I will be sharing some stories and the history of my 11 Chicago marathons!! My fastest Chicago just happens to be the year I turned 40! I still have dreams, and won’t give up on them no matter what my birth year is! Would it possibly be easier if I were younger? Very possible, but I enjoy the challenge! 😜 .
