Here we are sitting in our unfinished Airstream a month after our completion goal.
And here's what I have to say about... So what?! So it's taking longer to renovate a 1976 Airstream? Of course it is!
Do I want to be on the road and traveling right now? Heck ya!
But, part of this journey is in building our home! So, I've decided instead of being upset about it not being finished yet... I am going to be happy sitting right here with my man in our home that has leaks, and unfinished walls, and half cut out windows, in the freezing cold.
“A grateful heart unlocks the fullness of life. It turns what we have into enough, and more. It turns denial into acceptance, chaos to order, confusion to clarity. It can turn a meal into a feast, a house (van) into a home, a stranger into a friend.” .
Isn’t it so incredibly easy to fall in the trap of focusing on what you don’t have all the time? Im guilty of it. (Probably more then I would like to admit) I’m not saying to stop dreaming and working toward something greater in your life. I’m saying sadly many of us spend lots of time and energy comparing ourselves to others, and most of the time it leaves us feeling inferior and unworthy. Which ultimately dims the amazing things to be grateful for in your life. You don’t need their money, to be thin like her, you don’t need more friends, or a better job. You need to focus and pour yourself into the amazing things to be grateful for in your life.
Side Note : Instagram is one of the easiest traps of comparison out there. If anyone causes you to constantly compare yourself unfollow them, including us! Our goal is simply to motivate families to get outside and spend intentional time together, because we are happiest enjoying to simple company of each other wherever we are.
#rvlivingprosandcons - laundry!
Pros: We can do all of our laundry at once when we stay at a place with multiple washers and dryers. This means less time overall doing laundry!
Cons: We have to use quarters. Most places we have found cost around $1.50 each wash and each dry. We have to carry or drive our laundry to the laundry room and before that it piles up in a basket in our shower. Sometimes the laundry rooms are nice and sometimes they’re a bit manky! It’s a surprise! And some campgrounds don’t have them, but most of the ones we’ve stayed at do.
Usually we do laundry once a week but that changes depending on how many times the kids wet themselves or how many times Archer ends up soaked from playing in a puddle or how cold it has been because we don’t have many pairs of pants! (We were planning for warmer weather!) Another pro is that you can wear the same shirt a few times because you don’t know these campground people and who cares! If it passes the sniff test it’s good!
Ps: I think we’ve left a trail of single socks across the north east. 😬🧦
Our trailer is in storage this week while we stay with family for Thanksgiving... It’s hard to be away from home! So instead just looking at some of our amazing pictures of our adventure to West Glacier, Yellowstone and the Tetons earlier this year!
Hello San Jose! We're just going thru, but we had to stop at the San Pedro Square Market to eat and drink a bit! It's still smoky near the Bay area, so we're now heading south to catch some fresh air.
Bonjour San Jose!
