In a world where there are so many complicating factors and conflicting views, and so so much negativity, it sometimes feels like you are barely staying afloat beneath the weight of pressure.
We go through particularly happy points in our lives, where everything seems to be working out and what ever is most important to you is abundant.
It may be a work life balance, greater family time, happiness around an event or a positive change in your life.
But it only takes the smallest nail to remind you how fragile that bubble can be.
One sharp negativity, and POP, you feel like you are falling back to earth.
In reality though there was no bubble, this is your life to lead with your feet firmly on the ground.
The sharp negativity cannot do much to hurt us, it's only a prick, at worst it may draw some blood but even then, it will soon heal and be forgotten about.
The thing about negativity is the more energy you allow it; the more it hurts.
We will all face many in our lives and if you give any one all of your weight it will hurt like hell.
But spread that weight across all the negativity - and you've made yourself a perfectly comfortable bed of nails.
So...lay back and relax held up, perfectly comfortable; above the pricks who brought you negativity.

Not jealous at all that the man of the house is still gallivanting around Utah in a Mustang 🚘, abseiling, white water rafting and doing all the other fun things you can’t do with small children 👶🏼 while I’m back in blighty.... with the kids and a mountain of laundry you’d need a harness to climb.... Not jealous at all... or bitter... HA 🙃🤣😇😉
One of the things families love about Italy are all of the immersive experiences. In addition to walking tours, other extraordinary favorites include gladiator school in Rome, mask making in Venice and cooking classes with kids in Tuscany. Not all experiences are created equal though so be sure to vet them carefully! #familytravel#italywithkids
And just like that, our time in Mexico City has come to an end. Before we left, we had so many people express concern about taking the kids here, but we've found the city nothing but friendly and understanding of young families. Every other corner we had an abuela (grandma) wanting to see Judah and wanting to wave hi to Micah. Restaurants always have high chairs and they help us get settled in nicely and comfortably. We even got bumped up to the front of the line of a restaurant reservations list, saving us about an hour of waiting in the pouring rain. Uber drivers are prompt and courteous, and are available virtually everywhere. Mexico City is full of little parks and amazing museums that are super enjoyable even for little toddlers. We recommend the Roma and Condensa neighborhoods, we always felt safe and secure. A day trip to The Teotihuacán Pyramids can be done in about 3-4 hours total, and climbing up the ancient ruins is difficult but entirely doable especially with a baby carrier. Now onwards to ✈️ Cancún for a Yucatán road trip! 🚘 #schenkhaustravels#letsbeadventurers
What we eat - Peru edition!
Lots and lots of fresh fruits [and veggies!] Tonight for dinner we are having vegan alfredo with broccoli and rice noodles. Most evenings we have some kind of nourishing soup... with all different veggies and herbal infusions as the broth. I started doing that when we all got sick after first arriving here.
We have 3 weeks left on our adventure in Peru... so we are soaking up all the moments.
Unfortunately Miles is sick again... so we have been resting and not been doing the touristy things. Sick babies make traveling <> all around more challenging. Esp as a single parent... and not living in community. You cant just tag someone in to get a break. It's so hard to see your children miserable from sickness.
I know it takes time to adjust to the bacteria/viruses in a new place- but he has struggled this whole trip on and off. [Like I have said in other post... I am soooo thankful for the ability to travel with my boys- it's beautiful and expanding... but these are hard moments behind the lovely pictures]. Looking for the growth in these moments is pretty easy for me though- because sickness and illness used to be my biggest fear. A huge trigger that once spiraled me into intense anxiety and panic. Now I lean in and listen to God [the univese, spirit, higher power] whatever you define it as. Because I know there is a deeper lesson in this. Releasing my tendencies to fall into anxiety has taken work... but it feels so good to replace it with trust and expansion... instead of fear and worry.
These are my lessons.
This is my honest truth.
The lessons in this life are not always easy- but peeling back the layers and seeing your true nature is worth the uncomfortable feelings... most of the time! Ha!
[AD] The baby has learned how to roll all the way over. It seriously happened so quickly! The Ergobaby Classic Sleeping Bag is the perfect solution to help us transition out of the swaddle.
I love how ultra soft and cozy it is so we don’t have to worry about blankets. It can be adjusted at the shoulders for our growing boy and the two-way zipper allows for easy diaper changes! It also has seat belt slots for easy travel in a stroller or car seat, which will be perfect for our upcoming trip to Hawaii!
@Ergobaby thought of everything and now if they could only get my boys to nap at the same time for me! #ErgobabySleep
I’ve finally got my editing mojo back (still waiting for my writing one to return though 😬) so there’s a new video on my channel of our day in Rotterdam. It was probably one of my most favourite days of our Netherlands trip and I would love to go back and stay longer next time as there’s so much to do for children, and of course adults, that we didn’t get to do in just one day. Plus, at the end of a very long day where Eva bless her walked about 5 miles, a random stranger told us how good the girls had been over dinner and how they were a credit to us. Which of course we know (most of the time) but it always means so much when people go out of their way to tell you doesn’t it? So it will always be the place where that happened and therefore my favourite 😂 There was much more to it than that though I promise 😉 Link in my bio or just search for my name on YouTube!
We’ve been back in London for two days and already I want to escape to lands afar... However the sun is shining (a rarity here) and we’ve had a chance to “refresh” our wardrobes! Four months of wearing only the few outfits that squeeze into a small packing cube can get a little... boring! Loving this pinafore from @fandfclothing #supermarketchic
Oh that cute little kid handwriting! 📝😍
Kaitlyn was SO SLOW at handwriting before completing the first of these workbooks! 🐌🐌🐌 It would take her YEARS to complete a sentence, and Matt and I got OLD watching. 🧓🏼👵🏼
Now she writes quicker with more confidence, and the lessons aren't so torturous to our patience levels. 😂😂😂 We bought the rest of the series to work on quality and learn cursive.
Moms, tell me I'm not the only parent with a meticulous kiddo! 💚😂 What are your favorite handwriting tools or tips?
"We only have enough to give everyone a 2% raise. If you negotiate for more, that will mean less for everyone else."
Oldest corporate trick in the book.
There are infinite variants of this statement that all reflect the same message, "demanding your worth is selfish. If you do, others will suffer."
I've fallen for this fallacy.
Starting out I went through a bout of imposter syndrome, believing it was greedy to charge fees comparable to the industry. I grossly undercharged for my services, worried that clients would be angry if I asked for the value I was providing.
This was counterproductive to the highest degree. Getting new clients became a source of resentment instead of joy, "oofda, this means X hours of more work for not much more money."
I was steering my struggle bus straight for burn-out city. Fortunately, the struggle bus got a flat tire and I was able to reevaluate before it was too late.
I began demanding my worth and a magical thing happened. Reinvigorated in my role, clients started realizing the true value of my services. They actually got more from me charging more.
Here's the thing, it might be that corporate may be unable to pay you what you think is fair, or that they need you to work late or on weekends. But that doesn't mean you have to stand for it.
It's fully within your power to advocate for your worth. It's not selfish, it's FAIR. If they can't meet your worth, find an employer that will.
Having coached a number of clients through negotiations, never have they come out feeling slimy or greedy, nor has it ever resulted in resentful co-workers. Inevitably they feel reinvigorated and energized, which they take back to the job.
Beyond income, demanding your worth can mean creating boundaries around when you answer emails, how late you work, taking time off, etc. All immensely valuable to your wellbeing.
Demand your worth. You owe it to yourself
