Don’t fake it before you make it. This was a great statement from Dave Tate of eliteFTS @underthebar Don’t progress a movement until it is done right. People are in such a rush to be elite level trainers without taking the time to pursue mastery. The same can be said of good nutrition or even your career. A lot of people as selling the dream, without leaving the dream themselves. More detail in my latest YouTube vlog dropping over the weekend.
I had a client today who performed a body weight lunge for the first time.
This was a pretty big deal!
For most of us, everyday movements are something that we take for granted. But this person had never performed any structured exercise prior to this year, and did not trust themselves to be able to control their own body weight.
They had lost a significant amount of weight just by walking prior to coming to see me but wanted to take things a little bit further. ————————————————————————————
In terms of programming, I gave them few more that 4 exercises that focused primarily on them getting used to the movement patterns.
A body weight squat with TRX support.
A lunge with supports on both sides.
A chest press.
A pull down variation. ————————————————————————————
In the couple of months that we have been working together; they have been able to progress to full sets of full body weight squats, (lost more weight, though not the main goal), had a reduction in pain, made physiological progress, and today full sets of body weight lunges. ————————————————————————————
I could say that this is in example of a small win paying off, but in reality this is a big win!
It makes it even sweeter when this person went from turning their nose up at they gym to someone who really enjoys their experience🤠🤠 And to be fair, I don’t know who was more exited....me or them😅

Meet 3. NSPL/NBPL Provincials on June 16th. Still waiting on pictures and videos for that. But I competed in my first bench only and got gold in the 84kg class, with a bench of 67.5kg, which was enough to qualify for nationals. Bench only was before the actual full competition so I kept it light. I also did the full competition afterwards, I was supposed to be the only one is my weight class, but ended up with three other lovely ladies and ended up not placing, but still went 8/9 and got PRs all around! :) pictures and videos coming soon!
