Here’s part 2 of Red Hood!
Death 2 - Arkham Knight
His death depicted in Arkham Knight, I felt was much more sinister. He instead of being just killed, was tortured for months, if not almost a year by the Joker, who kept him strapped to a chair with leather bindings, and beat him, shocked him, choked him, scarred him mentally and broke his will to the point that Jason was willing to reveal the identity of the Batman to the Joker, which was the jokers “goal”. The Joker then recorded a live video feed of Todd readying to say the identity. But before he got the name out, he was shot in the face point blank by Joker. Joker’s real goal was to make Batman suffer, and he did.
Later in time though, Bats encountered the likes of someone known as the Red Hood. He didn’t know that it was Todd until Ra’s al’Ghul had revealed to him that Jason had been revived via the use of the Lazarus Pit. The Pit had given Jason life once again. When he knew he was alive, he threw away the title of Robin, and wanted to be something more! He thought he could be another Batman, but there was one. So he began to thought about what he feared. He feared the Joker...but he couldn’t become the Joker, but realized that the Joker used to be someone else...the Red Hood. Thus, Jason Todd assumed the mantle of Red Hood.
He then decided to don a helmet to conceal his identity, with battle armor that reflected Batman’s, but with a few stylish liberties. The bat symbol on the chest is red and Red Hood chooses to don a leather biker jacket! He excels at using weaponry, from knives all the way to the modern firearms. He always chooses to go with his default dual pistols though.
Eventually he came across two interesting characters: bizarro, the weird incarnation of Superman, and Artemis. (To reflect the DC trinity of Batman, Superman, and Wonder Woman!) and they formed a group called the Outlaws! They were anti heroes working to help mankind in a different way. THEIR way.
Catch part 3 where I talk about the second rebirth of Red Hood and his costume redesign!
