“TRANSVERSAL” by 2018 graduate Ivy Tong. Ivy’s project was shortlisted for Toyo Ito’s S.ARCH competition - more details may found in a video interview with Ivy, through 👉🏽#unswbiaalumni. More about the project below 👇🏽
“Transversal aims to transform the heritage listed White Bay PowerStation (located at Rozelle, Sydney) to become the very first Technology and Sustainable Energy Research Centre that focuses on renewable energy in the Southern Hemisphere.
It is a centre for education, collaboration, and incubation in the adaptive re-used site of White Bay Power Station.
Transversal hosts activities and programs that aim to bridge the gap between public and renewable energy. It consists of a new public interactive outdoor playground with the incorporation of new technology (including Pavegen and titanium dioxide paint) which could help to store energy and purify surrounding air.
It also consists of a technology hub, research library, restaurant, bar, gallery, kinetic playground and a museum.” @iives.ii
CONGRATULATIONS to alumna Ivy Tong for being shortlisted for S.ARCH CONCEPTUAL DESIGN AWARD 2018 - an international competition held by architect Toyo Ito. Ivy was invited to attend the S.ARCH conference which coincided with this years Venice Biennale; and included talks from firms such as Zaha Hadid Architects. 🎥👆🏻Ivy on being the only INTERIORS and STUDENT shortlisted among established architects... what a feat! @iives.ii
