During the day, I practically live in #leggings or denim paired with some kind of oversized top and a flat shoe of some kind. I'm either running hither and yon with a four-year-old in tow or sitting at my desk working, so to "dress up" while I hustle isn't always the most practical.
Now that winter's here, I find it even harder to find inspiration in my own wardrobe. While these basics are just fine on their own, I thought I'd challenge myself to put together two outfits—day and evening-ish—using the very same pieces that I'd likely wear (separately—ha!) at any given time.
Outfit details, basics:
Top: @dynamite, $? .
Jeans: @aritzia The Castings, $9.99
I got top within the last year or two, and while I don't remember the exact price, I do recall that I purchased it on a discount day as part of a haul. So it cost me anywhere between 4 and 9 bucks. It's been a go-to in my wardrobe ever since. The jeans are a recent purchase.
Outfit details, day:
Sweater: @aritzia, $13.99
Boots: @SamEdelman Silas slouch, $18.99
I had seen a pair of boots similar to these on Pinterest, and pinned the image as a reminder to see if I could find something like them. On a random walk-in to #ValueVillage this past April, I discovered these hanging on a rack. Exactly my size. I was so excited, I had to text my friend @spicyjenger about it.
Outfit details, evening:
Grey faux vest: @bongojeans, $7.99
Brown faux vest: @urbanbehaviour, $14.99
Shoes: @pourlavictoire, $9.99
Last holiday, I was at a party and saw @cncm wearing a brown faux vest and fell in love with it. Was well chuffed to score a similar one on a trip to #vv some time later. The shoes are made of python skin. Creepy and cool.
