Broke Friends... Driving through Dallas traffic is not for the faint of heart. First, you have to cool the car down; because it's 98 degrees outside. Next, you go to your mental happy place; because you refuse to have road rage. Last, you put a nice tune on and prepare to be in bumper to bumper traffic.
Now you're ready to cruise home... or so I thought. What's that burned rubber smell? Why is the car blowing warm air? Is that noise coming from my car? All of these questions flew through my mind as sweat began to pour from me. It's hot in the car and outside. Thankfully I made it home safely. A little hot and bothered, but safe.
My first thought was to get a rental while the car is in the shop. Then I remembered my friend has a second car. I called and asked if I could borrow her car and she said "Of course you can". Yep, just like that. I could feel the joy through the phone.
When she picked me up we had an interesting conversation. We reminisced about the days when we couldn't afford a second car. The comment "Thank God we don't have broke friends", slipped contemplatively from her. And I paused... because I understood that it's not about the money. If you surround yourself with people that have broken attributes like greed, lying, jealousy, no goals, critical and fault-finding etc.; you will receive broken results.
Having friends that are wealthy with love, compassion, quick to listen, prays for you, cheers for you, holds you accountable, etc... is priceless. Who's in your circle? You have the right to intentionally seek healthy friendships. Be authentic and show yourself friendly. And watch the joy of friendship blossom.
What does that have to do with the heat in Texas you ask? Nothing! I'm just grateful I don't have broke friends. ~Anitraism 101
