My top tips for motivation when running would be to ensure you have comfortable and supportive running shoes (and if they look great, then bonus!), and to change up the scenery of your run!
I love getting in nature and running along the water to mix it up, followed by stretching and recovery in an ice bath to offset the soreness inherent to long bouts of running - this constricts blood vessels and decreases metabolic activity, which reduces swelling and tissue breakdown. (And no, I don't recommend jumping in the 10 degree lake after your run if you can help it - see 'BLOOPS' on my profile highlights if you missed the action 🤦♀️😂)

For me, Sunday’s are for Running. Keeping my fitness routine varied is the key behind my success - when it comes to maintaining motivation, keeping my mind clear and agile, and seeing physical results. On Sundays, I Run with #UAHOVR. My new favourite way to stay warm in winter is by running! 🏃🏽♀️Now, Im far from great, but I’m getting better everyday! My tips to other newbies like myself… 1️⃣Set small goals! Don’t expect to run 5k on your first run, particularly if your body is not used to the movement. You’ll cause more harm than good. Start small, work up to 1k and listen to your body. If it’s had enough, it will let you know!
2️⃣ Invest in a good running shoe - your knees will thank you, mine did! I’m wearing the new @UnderarmourAU HOVR Phantom shoes and they have made a world of difference. When they said ‘zero gravity feel’ they meant it. They mould to your foot and are so lightweight, they’re a dream to run in. Plus, I am slightly obsessed with the white/grey colour combo! II TOP RUNNING TIPS II If you’re a follower from way back you would know my favourite thing to do is RUN. I’m giving myself two weeks to rest my back (due to injury from weights) before I get back into my usual river run. My incentive to get better is the @UnderArmourAu #UAHovr from @rebelsport - honestly the most lightweight shoe but with just enough support around the ankles. I feel like I’m flying when I run in them! For people that are only just getting into running my top tips are A) start with a slow jog and a short distance (don’t set your goal distance too high because you’ll never want to run again) B) put together your fav playlist (or podcast) for motivation - make sure you are always aware of your surroundings and don’t wear headphones at night! Out on my fave run by Rushcutters Bay. It runs right along the water and finishes with a view of the Harbour Bridge and Opera House. It’s all worth it when you get to the end! A morning run at New Farm Park to start the day right with my

RUNNING TIPS👇🏼 Running is my thing and I always get asked what my top running tips are! 😄 So here are my top 3 running tips, which can help you if you’re brand new to running or you’ve been running for years! ✌🏼
1️⃣ Interval Training - interval training is key to improve your running fitness & speed! Even if you’re training for middle or long distance races (eg a 10k fun run), include interval training instead of just going for continuous long runs. Head to my blog to get my favourite interval sessions!
2️⃣ Invest In A Good Pair of Shoes - when you’re pounding the pavement, a good pair of runners is essential to prevent injuries! 3️⃣ Fuel Your Runs - Carbohydrates are your body’s primary energy source. They are the fuel that your muscles require to move, so you make sure you don’t cut out carbs if you’re wanting to improve your running! To maximise your workout & give your body the fuel it needs, you need to eat a carbohydrate based snack about 30-60 minutes before you train. Keep your snack relatively small so you don’t have too much in your stomach; something like a banana is a good pre-run snack. ⭐️

There’s something so empowering about being able to get a high-quality workout, anytime, anywhere, with just your bodyweight. I’ve been incorporating this kind of explosive plyometric training into my fitness program since I was a schoolboy. In fact, I grew up across the street from this park and I used to workout on these stairs everyday after school.
