When I saw you in that truck I tried to understand what you’ve been through and how you feel in that situation.
I tried to imagine to be taken away from my mother on the first day of life.
I’d be lucky to not get shot with a bolt gun immediately cause it saves money for the farmer. Then I’d grow up imprisoned in a small stall or hutch, in heat or cold, all by myself.
This must be the saddest childhood ever. No opportunity to play, explore and learn from my mother.
Also not getting my mums breast milk but getting fed milk replacer instead.
Once I’d be big enough, at around two to four weeks I’d be crammed inside a truck with others of my age and transported for hours without water or food not knowing what will happen. We’d have to stand the whole ride in our feces, falling on top of each other.
Once we’d arrive at the slaughterhouse we’d be held inside a stall for a few hours, up to 2 days. All of us would show our fear differently, depending on our age and the conditions in which we were raised.
Some would try to escape, some would cry loudly, others won’t move out of fear, some would beg humans for help, some would break down. But they won’t have mercy with any of us. We’d all get shot in the head, many not stunned correctly. Some of us would be fully conscious when they’d slit our throats and start removing our head and legs.
This is the fate of a male calf in the dairy industry. I will never be able to feel how terrible he must’ve felt like. What I know is that his death was unnecessary and this atrocity has to stop. That’s why I’m vegan.

Sometimes the simplest salads are the best 🙌🏼 I threw a load of left overs into the bowl, sprinkled with chia and hemp seeds and put a dollop of hummus in the middle and voila.. a beautiful bowl of goodness 🥗 I love making my own hummus, but I didn’t have time tonight so I used this caramelised onion hummus from @coopukfood. I used to love their Moroccan chickpea hummus but I can’t have it anymore as it contains honey.. whyyyy oh why 😫🐝
