In the year that I have been Mrs. Knish, I have amassed a pretty impressive pantry. Countdown to clearing it out before we rent out the house and move to Iceland has begun. I present to you a chilled salad made with green flageolet beans (often considered the Rolls Royce of beans for great texture), canned artichoke hearts and canned black olives. Recipe 👇makes a lot so remember to share with friends and family :)
Great participation of USJ colleagues in the Vegetarian Potluck today! We hope all of you enjoyed the food shared today and learnt how we can reduce our resource consumption better to combat climate change 🌏 #DHLEarthHour2018#VegetarianPotluck
Touché, Garfield! Really good point! 🙌🏼 💜Yoga teaches us that we in the human form of life have the responsibility to protect and care for each other, especially those who are weaker and more vulnerable than we are – including defenseless animals. 🌱We don't need to eat animal flesh to survive. And indeed, there is so much research and evidence now that support following a plant diet for optimal health. ⚠️Animal flesh is toxic by nature (dead and decaying); it's ecologically unsustainable (massive amounts of natural resources are used to produce relatively small amounts of food compared to growing plant foods for humans to eat); and those who slaughter, butcher, sell, buy, cook, serve, and eat the animal's body are all equally responsible for the suffering that that living being endures (the seven stages of animal slaughter and karmic responsibility). The fear the animal experiences when slaughtered stays in the flesh in the form of fear hormones that humans then ingest. So we are in effect eating their fear. This is not how we are meant to live. We are meant to love, not cause harm. 🌿A plant-based diet has so many benefits that go beyond our own health. We must all think carefully about the consequences of our food choices. If you would like us to help you move towards a plant-based diet, please ask! 🥗We also have a vegetarian potluck dinner the third Sunday of every month at 6 p.m. The next one is this Sunday, February 18th! Please join us! .
