Citizens joined us last night at a public meeting to discuss the conversion of Washington Avenue to a two-way street. This is a very interesting process and it was great to see the turnout of citizens getting involved! #betterstreetswaco#wacotx
Meet my surprise guest of the week. I came home Sunday night to this chicken on my porch. She isn’t afraid of me, and she’s decided to come and go during the day but always come back at night. She squawks and makes herself at home even though I have no idea where she came from. ...
She reminds me of changes in life: the startling, delightful, weird and somewhat scary things that show up in life unannounced and uninvited. I always viewed these changes as intruders before—unwelcome house guests that had forced themselves into my life. But what if they’re more like this chicken than a robber? They may bring with them squawking and odd looks and some (or a lot of) crap, but perhaps with time my fear will fade and this change will find its place in my heart. ...
I’m not saying this chicken has won my heart (although I have grown fond of it). I am saying when something unexpected shows up in my life or on my porch, I have the ability to try and keep it out, tolerate it, or welcome it in. Each change is different and warrants its own response, but I’m learning a lot about how I respond from this most unexpected visitor. Next time I freak out about change—and I do tend to do that—I’m going to try and remember this chicken. I’ll remember I do have agency to choose how I respond; I am not without choices, and with all the crap it may bring, the chicken—I mean change—may bring subtlely pleasant surprises as well.
Today, i felt the need to introduce myself! Many of you know me here, but here’s for the ones who dont💗
My name is Madi & i am from right in the heart of Texas! I began taking pictures roughly one year ago, & began to take this venture on as my full time career September 1st of this year, due to picking up my life and moving north. God has brought me back to Texas & I am in an extremely glorious season of growth at the moment- I am a living testimony that change has to happen & a true believer in sometimes your plans have to not work out to find out where you belong. Here you’ll find content all about the real stuff, the hard stuff, the faithful stuff, & all of the stuff in between that life throws at us to try and make us crazy. I have found peace knowing that Jesus calls us to do certain things & be certain people & as long as our hearts are still beating, I can assure you he is not done with us yet! I’m glad you’re here, & I hope you enjoy following my journey.
Bianca is an absolute queen. She was easy-going and genuine, and her kind demeanor made me smile. Plus, any girl that asks for purple flowers is my bestie.

It’s been a season, guys! Anyone else? 🙋🏼♀️ I feel like I have barely been able to breathe these past few months. It’s ironic that I finally feel like I am catching my breath when we are entering into the busiest months of the year. I think it is because I finally gave myself permission to breath. Which seems silly, but I realized I have been holding my breath, waiting for the other shoe to drop and realized I don’t need to do that. I can breathe.
So here’s your permission to breathe. You can rest and the world will still soon without you. You can say no to that thing that you really don’t want to say yes to. No one is putting the expectation of perfection on me except myself so I will do what I can with what I have. My other tool is thankfulness, I find it changed the posture of my heart. Today I am thankful for friends & family that hold my head above water to get me through seasons like these. ♥️
What are you thankful for?
