Fresh beauties. How is everyone doing? It's already passed Thanksgiving, so whether we like it or not, Christmas is around the corner. I love the ideas of family traditions but this year, time really flies. I definitely cannot keep up with what needs to be done. Happy to report that only 1/2 bed of dahlias left to be dug out. Getting so anxious trying to get those bulbs into the ground and peonies bareroots as well. The weather has not been very kind. It's stalling my progress for sure 😊 Have an awesome weekend. #creamdahlias, #dahlias, #whitedahlias , #bouquet , #floraldesigns, #farmerflorist , #flowerfarmer
Frost still hasn't found our dahlias somehow so we're waiting for these champagne ladies to tell us when it's time to cut them down and dig.
They say not today, today is time to #vote - in a new district for one of us! Long live a less #gerrymandered district!
Remember how your representatives have helped you, remember how they've hurt you. Vote accordingly.
🍂 Oh dahlias. I had so much hope for you! Next year we have *big* soil improvement plans to get these guys producing like they should so we can sell stems to other florists & design weddings with *hundreds* of dahlias in 2019. Technically the soil preparation has already started cause the cover crops are in and have been growing for over a month! I’ll probably write a blog post about what we’re doing to improve the soil, so stay tuned.
🍂 We planted this dahlia about two months late in middle of July and it produced blooms as big as my face(!!!); however, most of the dahlias produced little if nothing at all.
🍂 But that’s okay because we are #soilfoodweb farmers & we know what to do. The nature of the place has been messed with & essentially destroyed by farmers over the course of a century. We’re going to work to restore the natural dynamic & hardworking energy of the soil. No biggie, right? 💃🏻
Loving these late season open centers in the #dahlia patch. There are still a few plants who haven't shown their true colors yet, but the frost may be holding off for the evening and we may get to see a lavender bloom or two by tomorrow...
Thank you to everyone whose engaged in the #wrockhillgiveaway so far! Excited to share our last item tomorrow and send everything out Monday!
BIG thanks to everyone who braved the very cold & damp morning at @perkasiefarmersmarket! It's great to see the love of local on blustery days.
On a related note, HUGE thanks to @rjs.essentials for keeping us vendors warm today!
Fall has fallen - onward into #autumn!
