I’ve done a few rounds of #whole30 and a few habits have stuck around long after my thirty days were over. ☕️ One of those was swapping out my sugary sweet creamer for @nutpods. I buy these by the case if I can, and you can find them @WholeFoods too. The new packaging is available in the refrigerated cases! I love Nutpods because they’re dairy free but oh so creamy! You won’t even miss your old creamer! PS... they have 0 carbs!
Because it’s national burger day 🍔 and some that follow me maybe on a gluten-free way of living ❤️ just a simple trick to save calories & eat more plants 🌱
One common issue when deciding to go on a gluten-free lifestyle (for whatever reason that might be) is that most think the gluten-free option is beneficial or nutritious option?!?
Sure, there are some brands/home cooking recipes which do close similarities to the real thing. But, replicating the Bun which you experienced and associated to many memories is never really going to cut it.
Instead, 90% of the time, personally I do not bother with gluten-free options. When I see gluten free more times than not it screams out “Check the ingredient list!”
The gluten free option on the left has 30 ingredients. Some ingredients you may not be able to pronounce, let alone find in a shop to rreplicate.
Simply, thinking of a more plant-based way of alternatives which are great in their own way.
I am not delusional. A lettuce wrap is not a burger bun!
But what I do know is that it;
A) tastes great
C) More accessible
D) Saves Calories for other Foods you enjoy like sweet potato fries or another burger. Whatever suits your needs.
E) naturally gluten free. Great if you avoid gluten.
Instead of jumping straight on to the gluten-free bandwagon swapping like for like which is more expensive too. Think? Can I incorporate more plants in this way as an alternative which of course are naturally gluten-free?
For the fibre fans out there. If you think you're missing out on the fibre from wheat + gluten-free products which is the majority component for your fibre intake. How about increasing your fruit and vegetables!

#transformationtuesday I don’t have a lot of “before” pictures because I never thought of it as being a before picture, just a picture of me being overweight, bloated, and secretly miserable. I would avoid full body pics and work my angles to reduce my double chin. This “before” picture was taken on 7/1/2018, just a little less than three months ago. I had just celebrated my 35th birthday, was drinking about 3-4 beers a day, and eating whatever I wanted. I needed a change. On the day this “before” picture was taken I started a #whole30. I had done one before and was happy with the results, but I didn’t change my way of thinking about food. I made a concerted effort this time to complete it and change my perception of food. I am proud to say that I have completely embraced my new way of eating and looking at food. I love my recipes, the simple and complex. I love finding new vegetables or fruits. I still love food, just differently. The girl in the “before” picture says she went to the gym, but she didn’t. One day a week wasn’t going to change anything. A week into that Whole 30 in July I started incorporating classes at @gfitwomen_media more regularly, and that’s when I really started to feel the changes. Changing your diet and outlook on food is great, but coupling that with a daily workout that challenges you and doing it day in and day out with fellow ladies that want nothing but the best for you, it’s the definition of a winning formula. The second picture was taken on 9/22/2018, right before I ran my first ever @spartanrace at Citizens Bank Park. The girl in the “before” picture would have never thought it would be possible, but I did it and loved it. I don’t consider the second picture an “after” picture, because I’m still a work in progress. I love where I am right now but I know there are still bigger things out there for me. I share this because I know there are people out there struggling with food, exercise, and life balance. Everyone is different and what can work for one may not work for others. But if I can inspire someone to start a new journey, that is what would make me most happy. Remember, if it doesn’t challenge you, it doesn’t change you
Banana Pumpkin Choclate Chip Bread ... so moist and delicious 🤤
11 tablespoons butter, softened (1 stick + 3 tablespoons)
4 large eggs
1/2 teaspoon vanilla
1 1/3 cups granulated sugar
3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
2 1/2 teaspoons pumpkin pie spice
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 cup pumpkin puree
1 cup bananas, mashed about 2 medium bananas
2 cups chocolate chips I used a mix of semi sweet chips and dark chunks
Heat oven to 350 degrees and spray 2 9x5-inch bread pans with nonstick cooking spray. In a large mixing bowl add the butter, eggs, sugar and vanilla and beat together until smooth. Add the pumpkin puree and mashed banana. Blend until combined. In a separate mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt and pumpkin pie spice. Add the dry ingredients to the wet in small batches and blend on low speed to mix just until incorporated. Add the chocolate chips and mix just until combined. Divide the batter between the two pans. Loaf pans should be about half to 2/3 full. Bake for 45 minutes and then loosely lay tin foil over the pans. Bake for an additional 10-15 minutes or until there is a nice peak in the middle and a toothpick inserted comes out with moist crumbs (not wet batter). Total cook time will be about 55 minutes to 1 hour. 😍🙌🏻
Snacks in the clouds - name something better 🧐 we’ve averaged 10 miles a day of trekkin here in the Dolomites (Italian Alps) and you bet I brought the 🔥 snacks alll the way from San Diego. So thought I’d give a run down of my faves, both on and off the road: .
My favorite on-the-go snacks:
• Almond butter and apple/banana (fave almond butters are @betteralmondbutter sweet n salty or @rxbar vanilla almond)
• bars - faves are @perfectbar for something nutty and filling, @squareorganics for satisfying a sweet tooth with protein, or @rxbar for clean + simple .
• hummus with carrots + cucumbers, maybe some sliced turkey too! .
• @chomps turkey flavor for when I want something savory - and they’re @whole30 approved!

PEANUT BUTTER JELLY TIME 🥜🕺🏼
I allllways look forward to oatmeal the most after a hard workout — I find the extra carbs are more satisfying & when paired with fiber, keep my hunger at bay longer than anything else even with that post workout burn 🔥 Anyone else with me??
1/2 c oats + 2 scoops @furtherfood collagen peptides + 1 T chia + 3/4 c unsweetened almond milk — SOAK all that in the fridge overnight, then heat up in the morning (or eat cold!!) before topping with dethawed & mashed frozen raspberries + a big spoon of peanut butter! #foodfitnessandfaith#postworkout
#Repost from @wholesomegrubs - Always need a pick-me-up mid-afternoons, especially when I head straight to the gym after work!
I typically grab a bar of some sort, but have been loving these @tanka.bar bars so much lately! Just the perfect amount to satiate my appetite and give me enough energy to carry on through my workout.
Huge shoutout to @tanka.bar for graciously sending me these equally delicious bars 🙌🏼 definitely a new pantry staple for sure!
(Bars are paleo, not #whole30 approved) #tankabar
