Decisions and choices - how do you know if you’re making the right one or the wrong one?
I’m a person who trusts my gut instincts and brain. My brain works to formulate educated guess into a Pro and Con List, while my gut influences decisions to minimize regrets in my life.
Starting Global Girl Gang was not easy. I had just moved to a new city, was reunited with my husband (after living apart for a year), was no longer studying all the time, and had started a new job. I didn’t have a background in nonprofits, but when women started reaching out saying they wanted this to become a reality, I reached out to @astronauttia & @theblondebiologist for advice and tips
We worked together to brainstorm and go through our Pro & Con list of what services and support we wanted this Girl Gang to offer
Since then, we’ve grown to having 24 amazing and talented women from across the globe
These extraordinary women are Contributors, Directors or Officers who volunteer 3-15 hours a week towards this cause
They follow their passion and work in fields that are known to them or push themselves to learn new skills. At the moment they make up the Business Development, Creative, Events, Finance, Legal, Marketing, Member Development, Mentorship Program, Product Development & Merchandising, and Technology Teams
How do I know this was the right choice? We’re building a global community where young girls can have the resources and connections we didn’t have growing up and are establishing a network to support women well past retirement
It’s a lot of hard work and there literally has been blood, sweat and tears but nothing ventured is nothing gained.
If you want tips on how I go about making my Pro & Con list, DM me or comment. As for my gut instincts, well... you’ll just have to figure that out for yourself
In the words of the great Maya Angelou and the scriptures- In the world you will face /encounter many trials and tribulations. It is important to hold on to your true self, live truth,Do Not settle and dig deep for that #innerstrenth For you will surely Rise. Cheering you on to success 👏🙌💖
Thoroughly enjoyed leading a table discussion at the SOLD OUT(Woot! Woot!) @womengetit event tonight! We discussed how to optimize our experience in the workplace. Three key takeaways for those who are interested in optimizing where they are in their career:
1. Take a self-evaluation: What is it that you want for yourself right now in your career? Where are you seeking to go? What frustrations are you seeking to get rid of?
2. Bring your authentic self in the workplace: Holding back who you are can inhibit your peers perception of the full potential you bring. .
3. Ask yourself: What do you want to be when you grow up? Follow with a plan of action with tasks that can help you move towards your growth goals. .
MONIQUE UDELL: “Becoming a scientist allows you to explore things you are passionate about. For me, my love of animals turned into a quest to understand the strong bonds we can share with other species, including our pets, and how we can use this knowledge to improve the lives of humans and animal companions. Everyone sees the world a little differently and scientific discoveries depend on these unique perspectives.” #caninescience#womeninSTEM#dogs#wolves#science#anthrozoology This project, inspiring girls to pursue STEM: bit.ly/womeninK9STEM YES, THOSE ARE WOLF PUPS 😍🐺
