Everyone knows the famous dorayaki, a japanese pancake filled with traditional sweet red beans (azuki beans) paste ("an"). But like many other things, Fukuoka has its own special version: a dorayaki filled with the Fukuoka world-famous Amao strawberries. Add to that some fresh whipped-cream, a dash of azuki bean paste (or matcha cream) and you got this treat, available at Ito King cafe, only between November and May, only in Fukuoka (:
What a #Saturday it was!

One of my favorite things in Thailand was their famed "Luk Chup" candy. It's essentially beans dried and pulsed into a powder that forms the interior of this cute treat, formed into a mini vegetable of the artist's choice (though they all taste the same), hand painted then coated in a thin clear glaze, which I believe is almost like a gelatin. I had one and was completely impressed by their beauty and flavor. Savory more than sweet but satisfying for dessert. They had mini eggplants 🍆 , tomatoes 🍅 , corn 🌽 , squash, carrots 🥕, pears 🍐, pomelos...which would you have chosen?
