Parivritta Trikonasana/ Reversed Triangle Pose
This is such a beautiful, expansive pose. It might seem ironic to say that given this is a twist, but I find the expansion through the side of the body facing to the sky can be quite profound. I used to find this pose extremely difficult to get into. I've fallen out of it countless times. Trusting the hand placement on the floor and the stability of my legs whilst facing up toward the ceiling demands complete body awareness. In the ashtanga practice, this post comes very early on because of how the the twisting prepares the whole body for even deeper twists and folds later on.
To come into this pose, start with your feet wide, facing the long edge of your mat, and place your hands on your waist. Turn your left toes in 30 degrees and you're right toes out at 90 degrees and twist so that your hips are facing the same direction as the right foot. Inhale and lift your left hand up to find a beautiful length from your left waist to your left fingertips. Exhale, reach forward and place your left hand down on the outside of your right foot. Extend your right arm up to the sky and twist to look up towards your right arm.
If you find balance is a little tricky, keep your gaze down towards the floor until such time as you feel stronger and more confident in this pose.
Pretend you have somebody grabbing your top wrist and pulling you up towards the sky. This is where we start to feel that beautiful expansion through the chest, waist and legs.
Be prepared to fall in and out of this pose many times. This is how we learn. ❤
“There is a simple realization from which all personal improvement and growth emerges. This is the realization that we, individually, are responsible for everything in our lives, no matter the external circumstances. We don’t always control what happens to us. But we always control how we interpret what happens to us, as well as how we respond. Whether we consciously recognize it or not we are always responsible for our experiences. It’s impossible not to be. Choosing to not consciously interpret events in our lives is still an interpretation of the events in our lives.” 👌

- Start by lying on your stomach and press your chin against the mat.⠀
- Tuck your hands under your thighs, palms to the floor.⠀
- Raise both of your legs up by using the muscles in your back. Do not hold your breath and remain in this position.⠀
✅Modifications: More advanced skill levels should lift their chin to the sky while the legs are the lifted. To deepen the pose even further, pull your arms together behind your back.
Yay, I have decided to go back to Yoga and Pilates classes at least twice a week.🧘♀️🕉️ If I do it at home only, which I love, I am lacking motivation sometimes, but in class, I have to stick to the routine, be diligent , be with like minded individuals , and stay the whole hour. ☺️
Who goes to classes? I would not go to Gym, I find it boring, plus I have trapeze, the best thing ever, and resistance exercises are fun on a trapeze as a substitute for weight lifting.
