It’s interesting how you keep changing and progressing in poses. I used to think I was just lucky if I even managed to get up in forearm balance, but I’ve been able to tweak it and play around with it a bit now that I’m not freaking out the whole time (internally! I apparently look quite calm and focused in this pose 🤔🤷🏻♀️)
My internal monologue used to be: 🤩🤗😱🤯☠️, aka ‘OMG I’m up here! #nailedit Yay! Wtf. Wtf. Wtf. Omg. Wtf. What is even happening?! Um... how am I still up here? Arghhh!!!’ *cue panic, then fall out* 😂
Sometimes, things just ‘click’ all of a sudden. Or sometimes you feel like you’re going backwards, and that’s OK too. It’s just part of the process. With increased shoulder strength, my shoulders have become less flexible. It is what it is 🤷🏻♀️ Vinyasa yoga is all about balancing flexibility with strength 💪🏽

A year ago today Doug and I were making our way to North Carolina, crutches in tow. After they tried to remove the glass from my foot at the ER until about 1:30 a.m., we came home, packed, slept for about 1.5 hours, and got up to go to the airport. I stumbled out of bed and limped to the bathroom, and started to pull on my leggings over my injured foot, and in my tireD stupor, struggled to understand why there were blood smears on my leggings. I slowly shifted my glance down to my foot, and in the short time I limped from the bed to the bathroom, the bandaging and my sock had completely soaked through in blood. Enough blood to be able to smear all over my leggings. Doug looked concerned, I felt concerned. 😳 We got to the airport, and I crutched to a wheelchair, where United graciously got me to the gate and helped at our layover. Day One: Grounding 🍃🌴🌞
I am completely humbled by the rain forest, the yoga shalas, the trees, the bugs, the resort and the experience that lies ahead during our retreat this next week in Costa Rica.
It definitely feels like a dream! I want to enter this journey with complete clarity so I can soak up every moment teaching, learning, and exploring. So, I started my day with a grounding astanga/vinyasa practice and a 30 minute pranayama & meditation practice.
I’m still feeling overwhelmed but in the best way! Looking forward to all of it 😁🏝🙏🏼✌🏼
