From Chris about this image:
Stage harbor lighthouse is one of the many lighthouses on Cape Cod. As you can see, it doesn't have the light any more as it was decommissioned many moons ago. In fact, it's privately owned and you can't want to the lighthouse. There was actually a little party going on (hence the lights on in the house). The foreground is lit up by Chatham Lighthouse (that's the 2 lights on the ground too), which is a few miles to the north. There was another flashing light just to the right of the frame I had to avoid.
I've had this shot in mind for about a year. I wanted to line up the bright part of the Milky Way with the lighthouse so it seemed to come out the top. I used a 35mm lens to try to get the width of the MW and lighthouse to be about the same.
This shot was a little more challenging than I had hoped. My mom decided to come with me. It's about a 0.8 mile walk on a sandy trail that isn't exactly easy for someone closing in on 70. At the end of the trail, the mosquitoes were... awful. Since I got us there early to check everything out, we ended up walking back down the trail. I then thought about shooting the Coast Guard lighthouse in Chatham, but that wasn't happening.
So I literally ran back down the trail to get this shot. In the process I got over 25 bites just on my ankles so that was pleasant. On the upside, I got the shot I wanted and the place to myself. There is a ton of light pollution and marine moisture in the area so unfortunately I didn't get the MW right down to the top of the stack, but the flag sticks out more which is nice.
I hope you enjoy!

Day 11 of #yogaeverydamnday#yogagirlchallenge : I took an actual yoga class today! Here is a super serious picture of me on my way to class haha. It was a great, vigorous class focused around handstands. I haven't practiced for more than 20-30 minutes in a few days it was a magical experience to be guided and challenged. I found myself somewhat missing home earlier today, but it's nice to be reminded of how different things are else where. I got some much needed alone time this morning, I had this moment where I felt so overwhelmed with gratitude, I started to pray while crying. I never really formally pray, usually just meditate. I feel God is always listening, and that I need to listen to God. But today it felt different. Life is so sweet and complex, and my only business is to experience it. I like the air here and the palm trees. I am already thinking about how hard it'll be to leave, guess I'll just have to shut up and enjoy it. Hasta mañana! 🙏🏽🖖🏼✨ @yoga_girl
At first they will ask WHY you are doing it. Later they will ask you HOW YOU DID IT🔥
I'm not a long distance runner so I always prefer doing 50/60sec sprints and walking in between until I reach 3/4kilometers...
Blessed Sunday 😘
I captured this image at the beginning of summer as the last light lit up the trees along the Pinawa Channel. At the time I was thrilled that summer had started and we had all this time to look forward to as a family. Now the kids are back in school and I'm wondering where the summer went 😳. Though it's sad that one season is ending I'm looking forward to crisper days and colour changes. Who else is looking forward to fall? Can't wait to get out and shoot!
